& \nSTAFF BULLETIN \nISSUE 3 / SEPTEMBER 2025 \n[vsl.vic.edu.au](vsl.vic.edu.au) \nWELCOME \nDear VSL Families and Staff, \nAs we conclude Term 3, I want to extend my best wishes to our Year 12 students as they approach their exams. Your commitment and effort are commendable, and it’s not too late to make that final push to maximise results. A big thank you to our dedicated staff and supportive parents who have contributed throughout the year, reminding us that effort and reward go hand in hand. \nThis term, our use of Compass has continued to deepen, with increased parent engagement in tracking student attendance and reporting absences. Semester 1 reports were available on Compass for the first time, and we will keep refining this process. If you haven’t already, I encourage you to download the Compass App to your phone for convenient access. \nOur school is continuing to move forward with major projects from the Annual Implementation Plan. Staff across all areas are working to develop and trial new diagnostic tools for languages as part of our ongoing curriculum development. Work is also underway to unpack and implement the new Victorian Teaching and Learning Model, supporting consistency and impact in every classroom. The development of our language Continuum remains central, ensuring high standards and direct teacher input into these changes. \nAUSTRALIAN NETWORK OF GOVERNMENT LANGUAGE SCHOOLS (ANGLS) CONFERENCE – 2025 \nThis term saw VSL hosting the ANGLS conference, with educators attending from across Australia, including Open Access College (SA), the NSW School of Languages, Alice Springs Languages Centre, School of Languages (SA), Secondary College of Languages (NSW), Darwin Languages Centre, and Capricornia School of Distance Education (QLD). We were honoured to welcome our school patron, Professor Joe Lo Bianco, as keynote speaker, alongside a presentation by School Council member Kylie Witt, Manager of the Languages Unit. The event provided a valuable opportunity to share our new facilities, showcase our innovative language projects, and strengthen national networks supporting language education excellence. \n2026 ENROLMENT UPDATE \nThe re-enrolment of current students into 2026 classes will begin in coming weeks. You will be sent an email through Compass to advise you when your area is open for re-enrolment. Kindly note not all areas will open at the same time as we try to ensure that the systemscope with the demand. Please do not forward this message on to other families, as it may impede your own re-enrolment. As current families have already set up a profile in Compass the re-enrolment will be simpler, but I urge you to read all the documentation before beginning the re-enrolment process. As parents of current students, you have priority over new enrolments, however this is only for a short period of time, and you will be provided with the deadline for reenrolment. Once enrolments open to the public you will no longer have priority and in the case of high-demand languages it is possible that the places will fill up and your child may miss out. So please take the opportunity provided. If you need assistance, please see your centre supervisor or administration staff, or log a request at \n[enrolhelp@vsl.vic.edu.au](enrolhelp@vsl.vic.edu.au) \nThank you for your ongoing support throughout Term 3. Our collective commitment ensures every learner thrives at VSL. \nWarm regards, \nJUDI BENNEY, EXECUTIVE PRINCIPAL \nISSUE 03 SEPTEMBER 2025 PAGE 2 \nAREA ACTIVITIES \nINDONESIAN INDEPENDENCE DAY \nCELEBRATIONS ATVSL GLEN WAVERLEY \nISSUE 03 SEPTEMBER 2025 PAGE 3 \nCELEBRATING FREEDOM IN UNITY – INDIAN & KOREAN INDEPENDENCE DAY AT VSL POINT COOK \nVSL Point Cook proudly celebrated Indian and Korean Independence Day in a vibrant display of cultural unity.
