You can find the final rule at: [https://www.federalregister.gov/](https://www.federalregister.gov/)[ ](https://www.federalregister.gov/)[documents/2024/01/31/2024-01427/us-citizenship-and-immigration-services-fee-schedule-and-changes-](documents/2024/01/31/2024-01427/us-citizenship-and-immigration-services-fee-schedule-and-changes-)[to-certain-other-immigration](to-certain-other-immigration.)[.](to-certain-other-immigration.) \nThe new fees went into effect on April 1, 2024. \nThis document outlines the changes in fees, eligibility for fee waivers, and reduced fees for Form N-400, Application for Naturalization. \nWhat are the new fees for Form N-400? \nThe fees depend on the method of filing, whether online or on paper. There is a $50 discount for filing online. \n\n| Form N-400 Filing Method | Previous Fee | Current Fee |\n| --- | --- | --- |\n| Online Filing: Form N-400, Application for Naturalization | $725 | $710 |\n| Paper Filing: Form N-400, Application for Naturalization | $725 | $760 |\n| Applications for service members of the U.S. armed forces | $0 | $0 |\n\nThere is no separate fee for biometric services. \nWhat are the new fee reduction guidelines? \nUSCIS has increased the federal poverty guidelines (FPG) income level for reduced fees. Naturalization applicants filing Form N-400 who have incomes between 150% and 400% of the FPG will pay $380, which is half the full fee. Previous regulations provided the half-price fee for N-400 applicants whose incomes were between 150% and 200% of the FPG. See the Poverty Guidelines webpage for additional information at [www.uscis.gov/forms/filing-fees/poverty-guidelines](www.uscis.gov/forms/filing-fees/poverty-guidelines). \nThe Department of Health and Human Services issues poverty guidelines in late January of each year. Form N-400s with reduced fee requests must be filed using paper Form N-400s with Part 10 of Form N-400 completed. There is no separate form required for a reduced fee application. \nCreated by the Office of Citizenship | 6/3/2024 \nSee below for an example of eligible income based on household size for a family of four living in Washington, D.C.: \n\n| Household Size for Income up to 400% of the FPG | 2024 Dollar Amount | Form N-400 Fee |\n| --- | --- | --- |\n| Household of 1 | $0 to $60,240 | Reduced Fee- $380 |\n| Household of 4 | $0 to $124,800 | Reduced Fee- $380 |\n\nWhat are the new fee waiver guidelines? \nUSCIS fee waivers continue to be based on three criteria: \n• Receipt of a means-tested benefit; \n• Household income at or below 150% of the FPG; or \n• Extreme financial hardship. \nIf USCIS approves the fee waiver, there is no fee to pay. Therefore, applicants should not submit any fee with the Form N-400 when requesting a fee waiver. If USCIS receives payment with a fee waiver request, the payment will be processed, and the fee waiver request will not. \nFee waiver requests must be filed on either with paper Form I-912s or with a written request attached to Form N-400. \nSee below for an example of eligible income based on household size for a family of four living in Washington, D.C.: \n\n| Household Size for Incomesup to 150% of the FPG | 2024 Dollar Amount | Form N-400 Fee |\n| --- | --- | --- |\n| Household of 1 | $0 to $22,590 | $0 |\n| Household of 4 | $0 to $46,800 | $0 |\n\nFor more information, visit [https://www.uscis.gov/forms/filing-fees/frequently-asked-questions-on](https://www.uscis.gov/forms/filing-fees/frequently-asked-questions-on)the-uscis-fee-rule and [https://www.uscis.gov/forms/filing-fees/additional-information-on-filing-a-fee](https://www.uscis.gov/forms/filing-fees/additional-information-on-filing-a-fee)waiver. \nCreated by the Office of Citizenship | 6/3/2024","cbCaimujNgEb3BEz","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaimujNgEb3BEz","pdf",93640,"English","# Background\n# New fees for Form N-400\n## Filing method fee amounts\n## Biometric services fee\n# Fee reduction guidelines\n## Income thresholds and reduced fee amount\n## Reduced-fee submission requirements\n# Fee waiver guidelines\n## Eligibility criteria\n## How to file a fee waiver request","[{\"question\":\"When did the new Form N-400 fees take effect?\",\"answer\":\"The new fees went into effect on April 1, 2024.\"},{\"question\":\"How do the current fees for Form N-400 differ by filing method?\",\"answer\":\"USCIS lists $710 for online filing and $760 for paper filing, with no fee change for applications from U.S. armed forces service members ($0 in both cases).\"},{\"question\":\"What income levels qualify for reduced fees or a fee waiver?\",\"answer\":\"Reduced fees apply for incomes between 150% and 400% of the federal poverty guidelines, resulting in a $380 fee.
