A systematic literature review analyzes 99 empirical studies from November 2022 to March 2025 across Scopus, Web of Science, ERIC, and IEEE Xplore using PRISMA. Research concentrates mainly on China and the United States and employs experimental or mixed-method designs. GenAI is framed through six functional roles (mentor, assistant, companion, coach, programming support, creative generator) and organized into themes: cognitive and thinking development, academic writing and language performance, self-regulated learning and innovation, and composite competencies with future readiness.
