We never stop working hard to ensure the best teaching, learning and wellbeing outcomes for our young people. The evidence from the data collected by the Department of Education confirms this! Don’t just take my word for it. All our collective work has paid off and your young people, at our school, are the beneficiaries of our staff focus, commitment, support, pedagogical knowledge and hard work to improve their learning and wellbeing outcomes! \nThe Learning domain measures performance on NAPLAN assessments in Reading and Numeracy, NAPLAN relative growth, Teacher judgement growth for English and Mathematics, VCE English group study score, and Senior Secondary completion rates. \nCurrent Level: High \nThe Wellbeing domain measures performance on a set of Attitudes to School Survey factors related to emotional awareness, managing bullying, school connectedness, stimulated learning and student voice; and the school’s attendance rate \nCurrent Level: High \nWe acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the land, the Barapa Barapa people, on whose land we attend school. We pay our respects to elders, past, present and emerging, for they hold the memories, traditions and culture of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people of Australia. \nP A G E 2 \nYear 12 Valedictory Dinner \nTonight, we celebrate with our Year 12 students the end of their 13 years of schooling. They have now begun the next stage of life’s journey. This Year 12 group have many future aspirations. It doesn’t matter what your future aspirations are, there will be challenges, struggles and changes of direction, but that is ok! This is the journey that each one of us is on, it’s called life. Year 12 ATAR results come out on the 12th of December so we will acknowledge award recipients at the college Presentation Night on MONDAY the 16th December. The ATAR is simply one tool used to select students for university – it says nothing about you as a person, and it doesn’t define who you are! Fiona Miller - Principal \nFire Preparedness \nCohuna Secondary College is categorised as a Category 4 school on the Department of Education’s Risk Register. We are categorised as such due to the potential for a grassfire (due to our proximity to grass land across the road) . This has been identified by the CSIRO and only they can change this rating. Please see vital information in the following pages of this newsletter, including school actions if the Bureau of Meteorology declare a Catastrophic fire danger rating day. NOTE: if declared a Catastrophic fire danger day, the school will be closed and staff will NOT be allowed to be onsite. Buses will NOT run. \nSchool preparedness and pre-emptive actions for the bushfire season \nFire danger ratings indicate how dangerous a fire would be if one started in those conditions and provide clear direction on the safest options for preserving life. They can be a trigger for action in community and for school and household level fire plans. \nSchools and children’s services listed on the Department of Education and Training’s Bushfire At-Risk Register (BARR) and those at some lower risk of bushfire or grassfire on the Category 4 list will be closed when a Catastrophic fire danger rating day is forecast in their Bureau of","cbCaip3Z8MB32HDi","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaip3Z8MB32HDi","pdf",1194281,"English","# Issue 37 - 22nd November 2024\n## School Performance and Wellbeing\n## Year 12 Valedictory Dinner and Key Dates\n## Fire Preparedness","[{\"question\":\"What school performance measures are reported in this newsletter?\",\"answer\":\"The newsletter reports measures across the Learning and Wellbeing domains, including NAPLAN assessments and relative growth, teacher judgement growth, VCE group study score, attendance rate, and Attitudes to School Survey factors.\"},{\"question\":\"When are key Year 12 events and ATAR results mentioned?\",\"answer\":\"It states that Year 12 ATAR results come out on 12th December and that award recipients will be acknowledged at the Presentation Night on Monday 16th December.\"},{\"question\":\"What happens if a Catastrophic fire danger rating day is forecast?\",\"answer\":\"The school will close, buses will not run, staff will not be allowed to be onsite, and closure is confirmed by 1pm the day prior with further advice provided before the end of the school day.\"}]","Excellamus - Let Us Excel - Issue 37 - 22nd November 2024 | PDF",1789908386,15]
