This is designed to set a culture of high expectations, build learning stamina and develop the student’s ability to progressively demonstrate knowledge and skills under exam conditions thus preparing those students who will be completing VCE exams. Exam results are used as a summative measure of student understanding, progress and achievement.  \nThis policy outlines the expectations and guidelines for staff in developing and conducting exams in order to more fully prepare students for VCE, and to ensure consistency between Learning domains.  \nThe purpose of this policy is to ensure that:  \n● Students understand that they are given every opportunity to demonstrate their highest level of achievement in an environment that is fair and equitable for all  \n● Students undertake exams knowing what is expected of them in terms of preparation and behaviour  \n● Staff understand fully their obligations and responsibilities with relation to exams  \n● The College meets the requirements of exam security and is properly equipped to undertake the administration of exams, including data processing and reporting  \n● Exam data is available to inform subject selection and career planning  \n● Reporting obligations are able to be met  \n● To ensure consistent practices across the College in relation to writing, conducting and marking of exams.  \nSCOPE  \nThis policy applies to all students at Keysborough College. This policy should be read in conjunction with the VCAA VCE and VPC Administration Handbook and the assessment advice given in the Victorian Curriculum F-10.  This policy does not apply to the End of year VCAA Exams or General Achievement Test (GAT) .  \nDEFINITIONS  \nAchievement standard refers to the age expected level of knowledge, skills, and understanding a  \nstudent should demonstrate.  \n● Yr 7-10 student performance is assessed on a five-point scale, ranging from significantly below to significantly above the age-expected standard (12 months or more behind or ahead) .  \n● VCE student performance is assessed against the VCAA proficiency standards ranging from Very high, High, Medium, Low to Very low  \nAdapted exam refers to individualised examination made for students where a standard exam isnot suitable eg. Late enrolment-reduced exam content due to only being present for part of the  \nSemester  \nExamination (Exam)  \na formal test of a person's knowledge or proficiency in a subject or skill  \nModified exam refers to individualised examination made for students with an Individualised  \nEducation Plan (IEP) where a  \nstandard exam is not suitable eg. differentiated work more than 2 yrs below/above age appropriate  \nSolutions  \nrefers to a common marking guide/ rubric and/or recommended responses.
