Furthermore, our GCSE results are above national averages and students at Collingwood, who attend well, whatever their starting point, make great progress. \nAll subjects are now being graded on a 9 to 1 scale, where 4 is described as a ‘standard pass’ and grade 5 is a ‘strong pass’. Grade 9 is a very challenging standard, above that of an A* . \n\n| Equivalencies | Good pass | Top Pass |\n| --- | --- | --- |\n| Old style GCSEs | A*-C | A*/A |\n| New GCSEs | 9-4 | 9-7 |\n| BTEC/Vocational qualifications | Distinction*/Distinction/Merit/Pass | Distinction*/Distinction |\n\nGrades 9 & 8 are a very challenging standard, and so we are extremely pleased that 34 students secured a grade 9 or 8 in Maths and that there was a total of 36 grade 9 or 8s in English Language and English Literature. There were 4 students who achieved fabulous grade 9s for all three of their Sciences and Maths. 16% of our students achieved 5 or more top grades (9-7) including English and Maths. The results in the Further Maths Additional qualification with 100% grades, 9-5 and 84% grades 9-7 were also very impressive. Also, the Triple Science outcomes were fabulous with over 50% of entries achieving the top grades 9-7. \nWe had an incredible 22 students who gained 9 or more top grades! Below is a summary of our students’ GCSE achievements in 2025: \n• 75% achieved a 4+ grade in Maths \n• 75% achieved a 4+ in English Language or English Literature \n• 69% achieved a 4+ grade in English and Maths (Basics) \n• 44% achieved a 5+ grade in English and Maths \n• 100% achieved a 4+ for Triple Science (Biology, Chemistry and Physics) \n• 65% achieved a 4+/4-4+ in at least two Sciences \n• 69% of all GCSE grades (2624 entries) were at grades 9-4 \n• 20% of all GCSE grades (2624 entries) were at grades 9-7 \n• 10% of all GCSE grades (2624 entries) were at grades 9-8 \n• 64% achieved 5 or more 4+ grades \n• 63% achieved 5 or more 4+ grades including English and Maths \nResults for the Sixth Form continue to be strong for grades awarded at A*-B for A level or Distinction*/Distinction for BTEC. All the students who wanted a university place were successful. We are also very pleased to support more students to secure places on higher level apprenticeships, as these can be a very attractive alternative for many. \nThe students who took exams at the end of Year 10 achieved a 94% pass rate in their GCSE RS Full course with nearly 60% of students gaining a 9-4 grade. We had 16% gaining the top grades 9-7. \nThe students who took a one-year course in Year 9 were rewarded with excellent results too. Consequently, more than 75% of the current Year 10 cohort already have a qualification graded 4 or better and 22% gained one of the top grades which bodes well for future examination success! \nAt Collingwood we are committed to developing responsible, aspirational, independent, happy and wellrounded young people but the curriculum must ensure that all students are able to follow a suitable range \nof courses so they can enjoy exam success. In 2025 almost 90% of students achieved at least one 9-4 or equivalent grade and nearly 40% of students achieved at least one 9-7 or equivalent grade. which could be attributed to both staff and student dedication to striving for excellence! \nKaren Watling Principal \nSeptember 2025 \nYear 13 \nBased on all entries for Year 13 students \n\n| | Overall | | | | | | | | |\n| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |\n| Year | 2017","cbCailuLeLz15t6i","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCailuLeLz15t6i","pdf",384403,"English","# Examination Information and Student Destination\n## 2024-25 Overview and Grading Scale\n## GCSE Performance Highlights\n## Sixth Form Results and Progression\n## Year 10 and Year 9 Examination Outcomes\n## Commitment and Overall Achievement\n## Principal Statement and Year 13/Year 11 Trends\n## Examination Bodies and A Level Results by Subject","[{\"question\":\"What grading scale is used for GCSEs in 2024-25, and how does it compare to previous formats?\",\"answer\":\"GCSE subjects use the 9–1 scale, where 4 is a standard pass and 5 is a strong pass.
