The recently phrased ‘ecologic-systemic’perspective of child development, for example, provides a ‘systemic way of analysing, understanding and recording what is happening to children and young people with their families and the wider context in which they live’ (Howarth, 2000) . This has an impact on the future development of early childhood curriculum models and ‘shifts the educational emphasis away from telling children what they should know, towards listening and responding to the richness of their present lives’ (Porter, 2002) . \nThis understanding, which owes much to the collaboration between the disciplines of education and neuroscience, as well as to advances in genetics and neuroscience, leads to increased awareness of those children and families whose foundations may require extra support in the form of Early Childhood Intervention (ECI) 4 to ensure successful long term outcomes. A UK project looking at the Mental Capital and Wellbeing for children with learning difficulties found that: \nScientific advances in genetics and neuroimaging offer a potential opportunity within the next 20 years to identify children with learning difficulties in infancy... Cognitive neuroscience is already uncovering neural markers or biomarkers for detecting the different learning difficulties measurable in \n1 Associate Director (SEN), Specialist Schools and Academies Trust; Director of Research for the ‘Complex Learning Difficulties and Disabilities Research Project’, SSAT / ‘Facing the challenge and shaping the future for primary and secondary age students with Foetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders’ (FAS-ed Project), National Organisation on Fetal Alcohol Syndrome (UK); Honorary Professor in Early Childhood Intervention, University of Worcester, UK \n2 Researcher, ‘Facing the challenge and shaping the future for primary and secondary age students with Foetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders’ (FAS-ed Project), National Organisation on Fetal Alcohol Syndrome (UK); previously Early Years Settings Advisor, Pre-School Learning Alliance, Bromsgrove, UK. \n3 Pr","cbCaiij0Q6RlpgL5","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaiij0Q6RlpgL5","pdf",2010038,274,"English","# Introduction\n## Foundations of childhood\n## Early Childhood Intervention and future directions","[{\"question\":\"What is the ecological-systemic perspective mentioned in the introduction?\",\"answer\":\"It provides a systemic way of analysing, understanding, and recording what happens to children and young people with their families and wider context.\"},{\"question\":\"How does collaboration between education and neuroscience relate to ECI?\",\"answer\":\"It increases awareness of children and families whose foundations may require extra support through Early Childhood Intervention for successful long-term outcomes.\"},{\"question\":\"What timeframe does Early Childhood Intervention cover according to the text?\",\"answer\":\"Actions under ECI focus on children (and families) from birth until a maximum of six years of age.\"}]","European Developments in Early Childhood Intervention (ECI) - Introduction | PDF",690]
