They also approved a financing envelope for the MPA up to an amount of US$1.42 billion equivalent.  \nDirectors reaffirmed the importance of the operation in Ethiopia’s efforts towards reaching universal electricity access and strengthening the energy system.  \nDirectors noted the importance of improving financial viability in the energy sector, diversifying the energy generation mix, and the need for critical sector reforms to achieve these objectives. Directors recognized the importance of an equitable approach to improving energy access across all of Ethiopia’s regions, ensuring regional integration, as well as the need to maintain flexibility in the implementation of sub-projects depending on local conditions and the security situation. They expressed concern about the challenging risk conditions, in particular on environment and social aspects, and urged management to implement adequate mitigation measures, to allocate sufficient resources for monitoring and supervision and to strengthen fiduciary oversight.  \nDirectors emphasized the importance of enhancing the climate resilience of Ethiopia's power sector.
