This guide covers vessels which can be calculated and analysed as thin-walled cylinders. \nThe first step in designing a vessel is choosing the most appropriate type for its intended service. The \nfactors influencing this choice are the function of the vessel , the location, the nature of the fluid to be stored, the operating temperature and operating pressure and their ability to store the volume needed by the process. \nPressure vessels can be classified according to their intended service, temperature and pressure, materials and geometry. Different types of pressure vessels can be classified as follows: \nClassification of pressure vessels according to their use and shape. \nBased on the intended use of the pressure vessel, they can be divided into storage vessels and process vessels. \nThe first classification is only used for storing fluids under pressure, and in accordance with the service are known as storage tanks. \nProcess pressure vessels have multiple and varied uses, for example heat exchangers, reactors, fractionating towers, distillation towers, etc. \nPressure vessels may be cylindrical or spherical (classification according to shape) . Cylindrical vessels may be horizontal or vertical , and in some cases may have coils to increase or lower the temperature of the fluid. \nSource: Courtesy of Innovative Industrial Fabrication \nExample of Spherical and Cylindrical vessels. \nSpherical pressure vessels are usually used as storage tanks and are recommended for storing large volumes. \nSince the spherical shape is the \"natural\" form bodies adopt when subjected to internal pressure, this would seem to be the most economical way to store pressurized fluids. However, the manufacture of these vessels is much more expensive compared to cylindri","cbCaifhJJynWWZV2","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaifhJJynWWZV2","pdf",1610562,22,"English","# Introduction\n# Configuration and design codes\n## Pressure vessel parts\n## Geometry definition\n## Manufacturing sequence\n## Design codes\n# ASME BPVC – Boiler and pressure vessel code\n## Historical review\n## BPVC Sections\n## Section VIII Divisions\n# ASME BPVC Section VIII, Div.1\n## Scope\n## Code organization\n## ASME stamp\n## Code revisions","[{\"question\":\"How are pressure vessels classified in this guide?\",\"answer\":\"Pressure vessels are classified by intended service, temperature and pressure, materials, and geometry.
