beyond \nother Christmas day,we takethe theme song of the wonderingshepherds on the hills beyond Bethle-hem:\"Let us go over to Bethlehemand see this sign which the Lord hasshown us!\"We know that on thatblessed first Christmas night there wasmade on earth the greatest headlineof heaven.A manger was filled withan Infant Savior smiling up at a VirginMother. That Baby had no skies butMother's eyes, nor God above butMother's love. The warmth of Godhad come to dwell forever with men.The leading string of a floating starbrought kings to His feet and into theears of those shepherds there burstfrom out that frosty sky the mothertongue of angels, the music of God:\"Glory be to God in the highest and onearth peace to men of good will!” \na little town. But those who heardwere making the headlines of heaven.Of all the first adorers at the MidnightCave those humble shepherds were themost favored. And did they not havethe greatest kinship with this Childborn in little Bethlehem? From Cribto Cross that Child held the Shepherd'scrook:\"I am the Good Shepherd.AndI know mine and mine know me.Ilay down my life for my sheep.Othersheep have I that are not of this fold.Them also must I bring that there maybe one fold and one shepherd.” \nIf you have ever been in the sub-terranean passages of the City of Rome—they call them the catacombs—youwill agree with me that the pictures, thefrescoes, where were the first martyrsentombed, are not of the Babe in theCrib or of the Victim on the Cross. In general, the Roman catacombs en·shrine with the bones of the firstmartyrs for
