Thematic analysis of 57 student reflections from a Lean Startup methodology unit within a business degree program atan Australian university identified specific entrepreneurial skills and mapped them to Kolb’s experiential learning cycle. The findings reveal three core entrepreneurial skills: strategic thinking and decision-making, resourcefulness and adaptability, and innovation and problem-solving. These skills are supported by six skill pillars and 37 specific skill attributes. Reflective Observation aligns with all three core skills, while Abstract Conceptualization supports strategic thinking and resourcefulness, as students apply theoretical insights to refine strategies and make data-driven decisions. Concrete Experience and Active Experimentation primarily drive innovation and problemsolving, fostering hands-on and iterative engagement through digital prototyping. \n1 School of Business, Law and Entrepreneurship, Swinburne University of Technology, Melbourne, VIC, Australia \nCorresponding Author: \nChamindika Weerakoon, School of Business, Law and Entrepreneurship, Swinburne University of Technology, John Street, Hawthorn, Melbourne, VIC 3122, Australia. \nEmail: [cweerakoon@swin.edu.au](cweerakoon@swin.edu.au) \nThe alignment of entrepreneurial skills with Kolb’s experiential learning cycle provides a framework for designing targeted, practical learning activities. Higher education institutions can use these insights to enhance entrepreneurship curricula by integrating digital tools that bridge the gap between theory and practice and cultivate industryrelevant entrepreneurial skills. \nKeywords \nentrepreneurial skills, entrepreneurship education, digital skills \nIntroduction \nEntrepreneurship education is evolving to equip students with the skills required to navigate an increasingly digitalized and innovation-driven economy (Nguyen & Nguyen, 2024; Zeynalov & Do˘gantan, 2025) . As the demand for entrepreneurial graduates rises, more research is needed to understand the types of entrepreneurial skills developed through entrepreneurship education (Steira et al., 2024) . Entrepreneurship Education has evolved to include a range of approaches that foster entrepreneurial skill development among business students. These include course-led initiatives grounded in active learning (Hammoda & Winkler, 2024), programmatic strategies that scaffold learning outcomes across multiple units, and practical pedagogies such as problembased learning (Chandra et al., 2024) and student-led venture creation (Mason et al., 2020; Pocek et al., 2021) . Experiential models, including simulation-based tasks (Grivokostopoulou et al., 2019; Huebscher & Lendner, 2010) and live industry projects, further engage students in navigating uncertainty and real-world decisionmaking (Maritz et al., 2022) . More recently, new business process-oriented frameworks, such as Lean Startup and Design Thinking (Sarooghi et al., 2019), have been adopted to guide students through iterative testing, customer validation, and value proposition design (de Waal & Maritz, 2022) . These diverse approaches aim to bridge theory and practice by embedding entrepreneurial p","cbCaikVFuNRnKJQk","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaikVFuNRnKJQk","pdf",1077417,41,"English","# Introduction\n## Digital prototyping and experiential skill development\n## Entrepreneurship education approaches and pedagogy\n# Research focus and framework\n## Kolb’s experiential learning cycle\n# Key findings\n## Three core entrepreneurial skills\n## Skill pillars and attributes","[{\"question\":\"What entrepreneurial skills does the study identify as core outcomes?\",\"answer\":\"The study finds three core entrepreneurial skills: strategic thinking and decision-making, resourcefulness and adaptability, and innovation and problem-solving.\"},{\"question\":\"How does the research connect student learning to Kolb’s experiential learning cycle?\",\"answer\":\"Thematic analysis of 57 student reflections maps identified skills to Kolb’s cycle, showing which learning stages align with each core skill.\"},{\"question\":\"What role do digital prototyping tools play in the learning environment?\",\"answer\":\"Digital prototyping tools support hands-on, iterative engagement, enabling students to test and refine ideas and make data-driven decisions within experiential learning.\"}]","Entrepreneurial Skill Development Through Digital Prototyping in Australian Entrepreneurship Education | PDF",1792539051,103]
