The study evaluates a university-based training program and investigates participants’ perceptions of the EFL training course. Thirty pre-service teachers completed a 24-hour training with an invited experienced EFL trainer. Evaluation forms, questionnaires, and student reflection sheets were analyzed using quantitative and qualitative approaches. Findings show very high training effects and changes across EFL knowledge, experience, and multiple influencing factors, while time limitation emerged as a critical problem.",{"@graph":14,"@context":72},[15,34,55],{"@type":16,"itemListElement":17},"BreadcrumbList",[18,23,27,31],{"item":19,"name":20,"@type":21,"position":22},"https://docshare.wps.com","Home","ListItem",1,{"item":24,"name":25,"@type":21,"position":26},"https://docshare.wps.com/document/","Document",2,{"item":28,"name":29,"@type":21,"position":30},"https://docshare.wps.com/document/research-report/","Research & Report",3,{"item":32,"name":10,"@type":21,"position":33},"https://docshare.wps.com/document/enhancing-pre-service-efl-teachers-teaching-skill-through-teacher-training-a-case-study-of-a-university-in-thailand/590063/",4,{"url":32,"name":10,"@type":35,"image":36,"author":41,"headline":10,"publisher":44,"fileFormat":47,"inLanguage":8,"description":12,"dateModified":48,"datePublished":49,"encodingFormat":47,"isAccessibleForFree":50,"interactionStatistic":51},"DigitalDocument",{"url":37,"@type":38,"width":39,"height":40},"https://docshare.wps.com/thumbnails/enhancing-pre-service-efl-teachers-teaching-skill-through-teacher-training-a-case-study-of-a-university-in-thailand/590063.png","ImageObject",300,407,{"name":42,"@type":43},"Adam","Person",{"url":19,"name":45,"@type":46},"DocShare","Organization","application/pdf","2026-10-22","2026-10-15",true,{"@type":52,"interactionType":53,"userInteractionCount":33},"InteractionCounter",{"@type":54},"ViewAction",{"@type":56,"mainEntity":57},"FAQPage",[58,64,68],{"name":59,"@type":60,"acceptedAnswer":61},"What was the purpose of the study on EFL teacher training?","Question",{"text":62,"@type":63},"The study investigated the effects of pre-service EFL teacher training and examined participants’ perceptions of the training course.","Answer",{"name":65,"@type":60,"acceptedAnswer":66},"How was the training program delivered and evaluated?",{"text":67,"@type":63},"A 24-hour EFL training program was implemented with an experienced EFL trainer. An experienced trainer in EFL was invited to |\n| | |\n| Conflicts of interest: None | provide the EFL training during the whole training course. Data collection gained was from: 1) |\n| Funding: None | an evaluation form, 2) a questionnaire, and 3) a student reflection sheet. Data analysis employed |\n| | percentage, means, and S.D. for quantitative whereas grounded theory (Strauss & Corbin, 1999) was applied for qualitative data. Three major findings revealed that: 1) the effects of the preservice EFL teacher training was very high; 2) the participants showed changes in all areas of EFL knowledge and experience provided after the training; and 3) the participants viewed five factors which included training contents, knowledge and experience, training activities, training process, and the trainer that affected the training. However, the findings indicated that the critical problem of the study was time limitation of the training course. This study has shed light on the significant role of EFL training for pre-service EFL teachers before their practicum as the findings showed positive change in their motivation and attitude for their teaching practice. |\n| Key words:\u003Cbr>Pre-service Teachers, EFL teacher Training, Practicum | |\n\nINTRODUCTION \nThis research project aims to investigate the effects of the pre-service EFL teacher training in English language program. Also, the trainees’ perceptions towards the EFL training course were examined. Background of the study is in threefold. They are: 1) an overview of second language teacher education, 2) teaching practicum, and 30 the role of pre-service EFL teacher training. \nAn Overview of Second Language Teacher Education (SLTE) \nTo start with, second language teacher education (SLTE) plays a key role in the countries where English is used asa second language as well as a foreign language. In particular, the roles of teacher education for both in-service and pre-service teachers are very significant. As thus, universities that are responsible for EFL teacher education program place very high importance in SLTE, particularly in pre-service EFL teacher education. In Thailand, while the Ministry of Education is normally responsible for in-service teacher education, teacher training in particular, pre-service teacher \neducation and training are taken for grant that the universities have to commit to this part. \nConcerning EFL teacher training, experts have discussed various content areas of education in EFL training. For example, Richards (Richards, 1998) has summarised six fields of core knowledge base in SLTE, that are 1) theories of teaching, 2) teaching skills, 3) communication skills, ","cbCaibTjnlAbUUsG","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaibTjnlAbUUsG","pdf",307578,11,"English","# INTRODUCTION\n## An Overview of Second Language Teacher Education (SLTE)","[{\"question\":\"What was the purpose of the study on EFL teacher training?\",\"answer\":\"The study investigated the effects of pre-service EFL teacher training and examined participants’ perceptions of the training course.\"},{\"question\":\"How was the training program delivered and evaluated?\",\"answer\":\"A 24-hour EFL training program was implemented with an experienced EFL trainer.
