V .S .K . Reddy , for providing his constant support and encouragement, to complete Mechanical Engineering department’s First task . \nWe owe a great deal to the Mechanical Engineering department faculty members to all the reviewers who patiently read each page of every chapter of the current version of Engineering Drawing Practice Manual for the benefit of 1st year B.Tech, MRCET students . \nWe are thankful to our parents for their blessings . \nWe welcome any comments concerning the book in spite of our diligent efforts there may still be room for improvement . \nOnce again we take the immense pleasure to thank one and all for their efforts . \nHOD \nDepartment of Mechanical Engineering MRCET, Secunderabad- 14 \nCONTENTS \nI Introduction To Engineering Drawing \n1 Introduction 1 \n2 Lettering 6 \n3 Geometric constructions 8 \n4 Conic sections 12 \n5 Special curves 22 \n6 Scales 27 \n7 Important Questions 31 \n8 Previous paper questions 32 \nII Projection of Points and Straight Lines \n1 Introduction and Projection of points 33 \n2 Projection of Straight lines 35 \n3 Traces of Straight lines 39 \n4 Application Problems 46 \n5 Tips and Shortcuts 49 \n6 Previous Paper Questions 50 \nIII Projection of Planes and Solids \n1 Introduction 51 \n2 Simple Problems 54 \n3 Traces of planes 58 \n4 Auxiliary plane method 63 \n5 Tips and Shortcuts, important and previous paper 65 \nquestions \n6 Projection of solids-introduction 66 \n7 Problems 68 \n8 Tips and shortcuts ,Previous paper questions 76 \nIV Isometric axes, lines, planes and Solids \n1 Introduction 79 \n2 Terminology and simple problems 81 \n3 Isometric view of Solids 83 \n4 Isometric view of Frustums 85 \n5 Isometric view of Composite solids 86 \n6 Problems 87 \n7 Previous paper questions 94 \nV Orthographic projection \n1 Introduction 95 \n2 Problems 98 \n3 Previous paper questions 105 \nUNIT – 1 \nINTRODUCTION TO ENGINEERING DRAWING \nEngineering drawing is a two dimensional representation of three dimensional objects. In general, it provides necessary information about the shape, size, surface quality, material, manufacturing process, etc., of the object. It is the graphic language from which a trained person can visualize objects. \nDrawing Instruments and aids: \nThe Instruments and other aids used in drafting work are listed below: \n􀁸 Drawing board \n􀁸 Set squares \n􀁸 French curves \n􀁸 Templates \n􀁸 Mini drafter \n􀁸 Instrument box \n􀁸 Protractor \n􀁸 Set of scales \n􀁸 Drawing sheets \n􀁸 Pencils \nDrawing Board: \nUntil recently drawing boards used are made of well seasoned softwood of about 25 mm thick with a working edge for T-square. Nowadays mini-drafters are used instead of T-squares which can be fixed on any board. The standard size of board depends on the size of drawing sheet size required. \nMini-Drafter: \nMini-drafter consists of an angle formed by two arms with scales marked and rigidly hinged to eachother .It combines the functions of T-square, set-squares, scales and protractor. It is used for drawing horizontal, vertical and inclined lines, parallel and perpendicular lines and for measuring lines and angles. \n\n| | | MRCET | Dept. of Mechanical Engineering | Page 1 | ","cbCaiihpD0DLN9Dv","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaiihpD0DLN9Dv","pdf",5784653,112,"English","# Engineering Drawing Practice Manual\n## Introduction to Engineering Drawing\n## Drawing Instruments and Aids\n## Drawing Board and Mini-Drafter\n## Instrument Box and Pencils\n## Drawing Sheet Sizes\n## Title Block","[{\"question\":\"What is engineering drawing, according to the manual?\",\"answer\":\"Engineering drawing is described as a two-dimensional representation of three-dimensional objects.
