The Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) program consists of 2 courses: \nEMR/EMT 1: \nCourse Number: 30531100 \nCredits: 3.00 \nEMT 2: \nCourse Number: 30531101 \nCredits: 4.00 \nEach course consists of lecture and lab. 100% attendance is required in the EMT program, and it is mandatory to attend the first day of class. \n• Clinical and Field Experience. A total of ten patient contacts are required by the end of the EMT 2 course. Although there is a patient contact minimum to the clinical and field component, students must meet the State of Wisconsin minimum competencies for each skill and assessment. If a student has not met the required competencies in their ten patient contacts of clinical/field experience, he/she will have to perform additional clinical and field experience until the competencies are met. \n• Training Permit/Background Check. After the EMT 2 course starts, you will be required to apply for an EMT Training Permit. Students must be 17 years of age or older to apply for a training permit. If you have a positive background check, you will be required to obtain official court documentation from the court(s) where the charges originated, as well as a driving record abstract from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation and/or your state of residence if you have a driving record. You will upload this information electronically and submit with your training permit application. \nThe Wisconsin Department of Health Services EMS section will review each application and determine if the individual is eligible for an EMT Training Permit. In the event you are not issued a training permit from the Wisconsin Department of Health Services EMS section, you will not be eligible to continue in the program. The Wisconsin Department of Health Services EMS section will not process applications prior to the start of class. \n• Course Completion. Upon course completion, the student will become eligible to take the EMT National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) written and practical examinations. Upon successful completion of this exam, the student will then need to apply for state licensure. \no ATTENTION MINOR (17 year old) CANDIDATES: Candidates who are 17 years old are eligible to participate in both the written and practical examinations. Candidates successfully completing the practical examination will have their results held by the Wisconsin Technical College System (WTCS) office until they are 18 years old (maximum of one (1) year) . Candidates taking the written examination will register for an Assessment exam (“Assessment – EMT”) and pay the NREMT application and examination fee. Candidates successfully completing the written examination will have their results held by the NREMT until they are 18 years old (maximum of one (1) year) . There is a specific process to follow, along with additional fees to pay in order to obtain the National Registry results when the candidate turns 18 years of age. This information will be provided by the lead instructor, on a case by case basis. \nRevised: August 2024 \nEMT Supplemental Information Page 2 \n• Additional Costs. Each student will be responsible for supplying the following: \no Uniform as required by Western Technical College for clinical and field experience \no Transportation costs incurred for travel to clinical sites \no National Registry Written Exam ($104 .00 – subject to change) \no Wisconsin Practical Exam Testing Fee ($150 .00 – subject to change) \n• Body Art and Piercings. In the Health & Public Safety Division, a student may display no body art or piercing that might be considered offensive. Most employment settings have policies that are \ngenerally broad; however, they do reserve the right to deny employment and student \nclinical/practicum/fieldwork placement if body art or piercings are found to be offensive to those in ","cbCaijl7s5jgJPJI","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaijl7s5jgJPJI","pdf",202128,"English","# Program Sequence and Delivery\n# Clinical and Field Experience\n# Training Permit and Background Check\n# Course Completion\n## Attention Minor (17 year old) Candidates\n# Additional Costs\n# Body Art and Piercings\n# Program Faculty","[{\"question\":\"How many courses are in the EMT program and what are their credit amounts?\",\"answer\":\"The EMT program consists of two courses: EMR/EMT 1 (3.00 credits) and EMT 2 (4.00 credits).
