Participants will gain Advanced EMT certification at the end of the first year, and are eligible to test for EMT Intermediate certification at the end of the program if they choose. The course of study provides the student an opportunity to acquire basic and advanced life support knowledge and skills by utilizing classroom instruction, practical laboratory sessions, realistic simulations, hospital clinical experience, and field internships with emergency medical service agencies. \nStudents in the second year of the program are employed in the EMS field at the time of their acceptance into the program, or gain employment while enrolled in the program with the assistance of the RRCC EMS Program. Employment while enrolled in the program is required as it enhances the educational process and allows immediate application of the knowledge and skills gained in the program. Upon graduation employment opportunities include ambulance services, fire and rescue agencies, hospitals, industry, and government agencies. \nCourse Sequence: \nThis course sequence assumes a traditional fall semester (August) start date. All courses must be completed with a grade of C or higher. Alternative schedules are available. \nFall 1 (First Semester)– 12 ch \n􀁸 EMS 121 – EMT Fundamentals \n􀁸 EMS 122 – EMT Medical Emergencies \n􀁸 EMS 123 – EMT Trauma Emergencies \n􀁸 EMS 124 – EMT Special Considerations \n􀁸 EMS 170 – EMT Clinical Internship \nSpring 1 (Second Semester)– 13 ch \n􀁸 EMS 127 – AEMT Special Considerations \n􀁸 EMS 129 – AEMT Pharmacology \n􀁸 EMS 130 – IV Therapy \n􀁸 EMS 131 – AEMT Fundamentals \n􀁸 EMS 133 – AEMT Medical Emergencies \n􀁸 EMS 135 – AEMT Trauma Emergencies \n􀁸 EMS 171-AEMT \n􀁸 EMS 171 – AEMT Clinical Internship \nSummer 1 – 10 ch \n􀁸 BIO 106 – Anatomy and Physiology \n􀁸 MAT – 107-Career Math \n􀁸 ENG 121 – English Composition \nFall 2 (Third Semester)– 14 ch \n􀁸 EMS 138 – Basic Simulations \n􀁸 EMS 178 – EMS Seminar \n􀁸 EMS 181 – EMS Internship 1 \n􀁸 EMS 270 – Clinical EMS Intermediate \n􀁸 General Elective – 3 credit hours \nSpring 2 (Fourth Semester)– 14 ch \n􀁸 EMS 140 – Advanced Simulations \n􀁸 EMS 182 – EMS Internship 2 \n􀁸 EMS 279 – Seminar \n􀁸 Social Science Elective – 3 credit hours \nSummer 2 \n􀁸 Paramedic Program \nSuggested Electives: PHI 112, PSY 235, PSY 249, CHE 211, CHE 212, BIO 204, BIO 216 \nCourse Substitutions: \nBiology 106 – Anatomy and Physiology will meet the basic requirements of this degree. However only certain paramedic programs will accept this as a pre-requisite; therefore we highly recommend taking the following biology courses to meet the pre-requisites of all paramedic programs. Also take into consideration that biology 106 is a non-transferable course, whereas the courses below will transfer to a four year university \n􀁸 Summer 1: Biology 111 – General Biology \n􀁸 Fall 2: Biology 201 – Anatomy and Physiology 1 (This fills the general elective category) \n􀁸 Spring 2: Biology 202 – Anatomy and Physiology 2 \nMath 107 will meet the basic requirements of this degree; however it is a non-transferable course. Therefore, we recommend MAT 121, college algebra, instead of MAT 107. \nPrerequisites: \n􀁸 Proof of age 18 by the first day of class (no exceptions) \n􀁸 The student must be eligible to enroll in ENG 121 or provide proof of completion of ENG \n121, or its equivalent, with a grade of C or higher \n􀁸 Registration for the second semester requires current EMT certification or documentation of enrollment, and satisfactory progress, in an EMT course \n􀁸 Registration for the third semester requires current AEMT certification or documentation of enrollment, and satisfactory progress, in an AEMT course. \n􀁸 Acceptance into the third semester is a competitive process which includes an application and interview, as well as a written and skills tests","cbCairH4WGOXO781","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCairH4WGOXO781","pdf",756291,"English","# Program Outcomes and Structure\n## Certification Pathway and Training Methods\n## Employment Requirement and Career Opportunities\n# Course Sequence by Term\n## Fall 1 and Spring 1\n## Summer 1 and Fall 2\n## Spring 2 and Summer 2\n# Course Requirements and Registration\n## Course Completion Standards and Scheduling\n## Course Substitutions and Recommendations\n## Prerequisites\n## Registration Process and Admission Criteria\n# Course Offerings and Logistics\n## Enrollment Terms, Sections, and Meeting Patterns\n## Class Times and Hybrid Options\n## Required Textbooks","[{\"question\":\"What credentials can participants earn during the program?\",\"answer\":\"Participants complete Advanced EMT certification at the end of the first year.
