The document describes a multifaceted institutional strategy spanning discipline-aligned in-class presentations, face-to-face review sessions, asynchronous faculty-recorded online modules, and a customizable study program focused on relevant subject areas and career goals. Historical implementation details cover when different engineering tracks began, and how a grant expanded support by funding both registration and third-party online study materials. Student outcome data from 2022–2025 shows improved FE pass rates across Electrical, Environmental, and Mechanical Engineering cohorts.",{"@graph":14,"@context":73},[15,34,56],{"@type":16,"itemListElement":17},"BreadcrumbList",[18,23,27,31],{"item":19,"name":20,"@type":21,"position":22},"https://docshare.wps.com","Home","ListItem",1,{"item":24,"name":25,"@type":21,"position":26},"https://docshare.wps.com/document/","Document",2,{"item":28,"name":29,"@type":21,"position":30},"https://docshare.wps.com/document/exam/","Exam",3,{"item":32,"name":10,"@type":21,"position":33},"https://docshare.wps.com/document/empowering-engineering-students-for-the-fe-exam-classroom-integration-and-customizable-study-strategies-paper/300828/",4,{"url":32,"name":10,"@type":35,"image":36,"author":41,"headline":10,"publisher":44,"fileFormat":47,"inLanguage":8,"description":12,"dateModified":48,"datePublished":49,"encodingFormat":47,"isAccessibleForFree":50,"interactionStatistic":51},"DigitalDocument",{"url":37,"@type":38,"width":39,"height":40},"https://docshare.wps.com/thumbnails/empowering-engineering-students-for-the-fe-exam-classroom-integration-and-customizable-study-strategies-paper/300828.png","ImageObject",300,407,{"name":42,"@type":43},"8796093062539","Person",{"url":19,"name":45,"@type":46},"DocShare","Organization","application/pdf","2026-11-06","2026-09-19",true,{"@type":52,"interactionType":53,"userInteractionCount":55},"InteractionCounter",{"@type":54},"ViewAction",16,{"@type":57,"mainEntity":58},"FAQPage",[59,65,69],{"name":60,"@type":61,"acceptedAnswer":62},"What preparation methods are used for FE exam readiness?","Question",{"text":63,"@type":64},"The strategy combines in-class presentations aligned with NCEES topics, face-to-face review sessions, asynchronous online modules recorded by faculty, and a customizable study program tailored to students’ discipline and goals.","Answer",{"name":66,"@type":61,"acceptedAnswer":67},"How did support and participation evolve across engineering disciplines?",{"text":68,"@type":64},"Environmental students began taking the FE exam in 1997, Mechanical and Electrical students became mandatory in 2022, and Civil students first participated in 2024. After moving to the U.S. Dr. Baddour joined the Department of Mechanical Engineering as an Assistant Professor in the Fall of 2017 . Since then, she has been teaching courses such as Introduction to Manufacturing Processes, Introduction to Nanomaterials, Statics, Strength of Materials and Scientific Programming. She also established her research laboratory for nanomaterial-related research. \nDr. Baddour is the ABET coordinator for Mechanical Engineering. She is a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE), the Society of Women Engineers (SWE), the American Society of Engineering Education (ASEE), the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and the Pennsylvania Society of Professional Engineers (PSPE) as a non-PE member. Her personal goal is to become a PE. She is a full member of the Sigma Xi Honor Society. \nDr. Baddour took the Obligation of Canadian Engineers (Iron Ring) in 2004 (Camp 11) . She is fluent in French and English. \nDr. Marleen A. Troy P.E., Wilkes University \nMarleen A. Troy, Ph.D., P.E., BCEE Marleen Troy is an environmental engineer with specialized experience in environmental management and biological treatment for remediation. She is currently a professor of environmental engineering and director of the Sustainability Management Certificate Program at Wilkes University. She is also a Pennsylvania-registered engineer and board certified in environmental sustainability by the American Academy of Environmental Engineers and Scientists. Marleen received her Ph.D. in civil engineering from Drexel University and an MSCE in civil engineering – in addition to a BS in biological science from Drexel University and a MS in microbiology from the University of Rhode Island. \nEdward T. Bednarz \nDr. Edward T. Bednarz III is a professor of mechanical engineering at Wilkes University, where he has been teaching since 2013, following a 12-year engineering career with the U.S. Army. His professional background includes work in mechanical systems design, portable army bridge testing, and safety innovations. These experiences shape his practical and deeply human approach to engineering education. At Wilkes, he coordinates senior capstone projects for the mechanical and electrical engineering department, mentors student researchers, and has developed courses in mechanical engineering and ethics. He has experience in intellectual property and holds five U.S. patents. A passionate advocate for integrity and professionalism in engineering, Dr. Bednarz brings real-world insight into ethical decision-making in the classroom and beyond. \n©American Society for Engineering Education, 2026 \nEmpowering Mechanical Engineering ","cbCaiulOMWZ7v5FT","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaiulOMWZ7v5FT","pdf",526229,15,"English","# Abstract\n## Preparation strategy components\n## Implementation timeline and funding support\n## Impact evaluation and pass-rate outcomes","[{\"question\":\"What preparation methods are used for FE exam readiness?\",\"answer\":\"The strategy combines in-class presentations aligned with NCEES topics, face-to-face review sessions, asynchronous online modules recorded by faculty, and a customizable study program tailored to students’ discipline and goals.\"},{\"question\":\"How did support and participation evolve across engineering disciplines?\",\"answer\":\"Environmental students began taking the FE exam in 1997, Mechanical and Electrical students became mandatory in 2022, and Civil students first participated in 2024.
