The drought and famine there were very severe. Jezebel, the queen, was having the prophets of the Lord killed.  \nThen God sent Elijah to see King Ahab again. When they met, Ahab said,“There you are, you troublemaker!” Elijah replied,“You are the troublemaker! You are the one disobeying the Lord by worshiping Baal!”  \nElijah said,“Order all of Israel to assemble at Mount Carmel. Bring the 450 prophets of Baal and the 400 prophets of Asherah who always eat at Queen Jezebel’s table.”  \nWhen the people gathered on Mount Carmel, Elijah said to them,“How long are you going tobe undecided about who is truly God? If the Lord is God, then worship him. If Baal is truly God, then worship him!” Nobody answered.  \nThen Elijah said,“Let all the prophets of Baal prepare their sacrifice and offer it on the wood without lighting the fire. Then I will do the same. The god who answers our prayers with fire, he is God!”  \nThe prophets of Baal called out to their god all morning.
