The program also provides hazard awareness information to those who use electrical equipment. \nReading this document does not qualify workers to perform electrical work. Requirements that are beyond the scope of this document must be established for each work area. They should include, at a minimum, the safety concerns outlined in this document. \nThis document should not be construed as a synopsis of all electrical requirements or as a substitute for formal study, training, and experience in electrical design, construction, and maintenance. \nAll work on or near electrical equipment must be performed in a safe manner. This document, and the standards on which it is based, establishes the baseline requirements for worker safety at SLAC. These requirements apply to all work at the facility, including work on or near legacy equipment (which may not have been installed in a manner compliant with current engineering standards) . \nWork on equipment with hazardous electrical energy must be performed in the de-energized state whenever possible. \nAll new electrical wiring and equipment must comply with NFPA 70, Cal/OSHA, and numerous other established safety and engineering standards. \nContents \nPublication Data \nExecutive Summary \nContents iii \nFigures vii \nTables vii \nAcronyms ix \nDefinitions x \n1 Introduction 1 \n1.1 Purpose 1 \n1.1.1 Policy 1 \n1.2 Scope 1 \n1.3 Applicability 1 \n1.4 Laws, Regulations, and Standards 2 \n1.4.1 Note on Standards 3 \n2 Roles and Responsibilities 5 \n2.1 Worker 5 \nSupervisor / Line 5 \n2.2 Management 5 \n2.3 Construction Manager 6 \n2.4 Subcontractor 6 \n2.5 Designer / Engineer 6 \n2.6 Equipment Owner 6 \n2.7 Area / Building Manager 6 \n2.8 Facilities and Operations Division 7 \n2.9 Building Inspection Office Department Head 7 \n2.10 Electrical Safety Officer 7 \n3 Training 9 \n3.1 Electrical Worker 9 \n3.2 Supervisor / Line Management 10 \n3.3 Construction Manager 10 \n3.4 Designer / Engineer 10 \n4 Qualified and Authorized Person 11 \n4.1 General Requirements for a Qualified Person 12 \n4.2 Qualifications for Manipulative Energized Work 12 \n4.3 Unqualified Persons 13 \n5 Hazards 15 \n5.1 Electrical Shock 15 \n5.2 Burns 16 \n5.3 Delayed Effects 16 \n5.4 Other Hazards 16 \n6 Hazard Thresholds 17 \n6.1 General Thresholds 17 \n6.2 Applicatio","cbCaiqCSxmUZSF7u","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaiqCSxmUZSF7u","pdf",4479962,131,"English","# Executive Summary\n# 1 Introduction\n## 1.1 Purpose\n## 1.2 Scope\n## 1.3 Applicability\n## 1.4 Laws, Regulations, and Standards\n# 2 Roles and Responsibilities\n## 2.1 Worker\n## 2.2 Management\n## 2.3 Construction Manager\n## 2.4 Subcontractor\n## 2.5 Designer / Engineer\n## 2.6 Equipment Owner\n## 2.7 Area / Building Manager\n## 2.8 Facilities and Operations Division\n## 2.9 Building Inspection Office Department Head\n## 2.10 Electrical Safety Officer\n# 3 Training\n## 3.1 Electrical Worker\n## 3.2 Supervisor / Line Management\n## 3.3 Construction Manager\n## 3.4 Designer / Engineer\n# 4 Qualified and Authorized Person\n## 4.1 General Requirements for a Qualified Person\n## 4.2 Qualifications for Manipulative Energized Work\n## 4.3 Unqualified Persons\n# 5 Hazards\n## 5.1 Electrical Shock\n## 5.2 Burns\n## 5.3 Delayed Effects\n## 5.4 Other Hazards\n# 6 Hazard Thresholds\n## 6.1 General Thresholds\n## 6.2 Application-specific Thresholds\n# 7 General Requirements for Equipment Safety\n## 7.1 Equipment Acceptability\n## 7.2 Equipment Safety Practices\n## 7.3 Design and Installation\n## 7.4 Documentation\n## 7.5 Working Space around Electrical Equipment\n# 8 Safety Requirements for Electrical Equipment\n## 8.1 Flexible Cords, Extension Cords, Power Strips\n## 8.2 Lasers, Laser Tables, and Enclosures (Grounding)\n## 8.3 Grounding Enclosures and Work Surfaces\n## 8.4 Grounding for Generators\n## 8.5 Covers, Guards, and Enclosures\n## 8.6 Ground-fault Circuit Interrupters\n## 8.7 Electrical Cables\n## 8.8 Power Supplies","[{\"question\":\"What is the purpose of the Electrical Safety Manual?\",\"answer\":\"It establishes baseline worker knowledge and hazard awareness for electrical shock and burn prevention at SLAC.
