State law requires all students in grades 3-8 to participate in state assessments. The PARCC replaces the NJASK. \nWhat is New Jersey Student Learning Assessment – Science (NJSLA-S)? \nThis year, students in grades 5, 8, and 11 will still take the New Jersey Student Learning Assessment-Science. The NJSLA-S replaces the NJASK Science assessment and moves from 4th grade to 5th. Similar to PARCC, the NJSLA-S is a computer-based assessment. The spring 2018 administration of the NJSLA will be a field test, and the spring 2019 administration will be a baseline year. \nMay my child opt-out of state testing? \nPer state guidelines, there is no provision to opt-out of the PARCC assessment. The New Jersey Department of Education has provided schools the following guidance: \n...State law and regulations require all students to take State assessments. For the \n2014-2015 school year, the PARCC assessment will replace the prior statewide assessments-the NJASK in grades 3-8 and HSPA in high school; as such, all students shall take the PARCC assessment as scheduled. Since the PARCC assessment is part of the State required educational program, schools are not required to provide an alternative educational program for students who do not participate in the statewide assessment. \nWhat is the time frame for PARCC testing and the NJSLA-S? \nEnglish Language Arts \n\n| | Unit 1 | Unit 2 | Unit 3 |\n| --- | --- | --- | --- |\n| Grade 3 | 75 mins | 75 mins | 75 mins |\n| Grades 4-5 | 90 mins | 90 mins | 90 mins |\n| Grades 6-11 | 90 mins | 90 mins | 90 mins |\n\nMathematics \n\n| | Unit 1 | Unit 2 | Unit 3 | Unit 4 |\n| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |\n| Grades 3-5 | 60 mins | 60 mins | 60 mins | 60 mins |\n| Grades 6-8 | 80 mins | 80 mins | 80 mins | NA |\n\nScience \n\n| | Unit 1 | Unit 2 | Unit 3 | Unit 4 |\n| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |\n| Grade 5 | 30 mins | 30 mins | 30 mins | 30 mins |\n\nWhen will the PARCC and the NJSLA-S be administered? \nThe PARCC testing window runs from April 16-May 25, 2018. Our testing dates are as follows: \nCBL: April 23-25 and April 30-May 3. Makeups will take place on April 26th and 27th, May 4th and the week of May 7th. \nUES: April 24th, 25th and 27th and May 1-3. Makeups are scheduled for May 14th. \nWill students have opportunities to practice the tests? \nClassroom teachers have introduced sample items and practice tests in class. Students will also be given an opportunity to complete practice assessments during computer class. Finally, the district will participate in a test simulation in order to prepare students for the upcoming PARCC test. \nWhat types of accommodations will be allowed for students with disabilities and English Language Learners for the PARCC assessments? \nThe PARCC Accessibility and Accommodations Manual found on the PARCC website is a comprehensive policy document which provides guidance and support to ensure that students with disabilities and English language learners are provided appropriate access to the PARCC assessment. \nWhat resources are available? \nNJ Parent FAQ \nMath and ELA Practice Tests \nTelephone (609) 738-2600 Fax (609) 738-2659","cbCaimQgnTHROiy8","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaimQgnTHROiy8","pdf",157254,"English","# What is PARCC?\n## What is New Jersey Student Learning Assessment – Science (NJSLA-S)?\n## May my child opt-out of state testing?\n## What is the time frame for PARCC testing and the NJSLA-S?\n## When will the PARCC and the NJSLA-S be administered?\n## Will students have opportunities to practice the tests?\n## What types of accommodations will be allowed?\n## What resources are available?","[{\"question\":\"What is PARCC and which subjects does it assess?\",\"answer\":\"PARCC is a computer-based assessment for Mathematics and English Language Arts.
