However, its underlying mechanisms remain unclear. Endoplasmic reticulum stress (ERS), a protective response to stress, is linked to mental disorders. In depression patients, levels of NOD-like receptor thermal protein domain-associated protein 3 (NLRP3), nuclear factor kappa-B (NF-κB), and interleukin-1β (IL-1) were elevated, while HRV parameters were reduced. Social defeat stress was found to activate autonomic neural activity, subsequently leading to myocardial injury through ERS modulation. Dopamine (DA), 5-hydroxytryptamine (5-HT), and corticosterone (CORT) levels were measured by ELISA. The number and morphology of amygdala neurons were evaluated via Nissland TUNEL staining. ERS-induced autophagy and inflammation were assessed using western blot and immunofluorescence staining. This study links ERS to myocardial injury, suggesting ERS modulation could represent a potential therapeutic strategy for stress-induced myocardial injury. \nINTRODUCTION \nPsychosocial stress, encompassing both physiological and psychological responses to perceived social threats (e.g. , workplace conflict, social isolation, or financial strain), affects approximately 280 million people globally. It is a well-established contributor to mental disorders, particularly major depressive disorder.1 Depression is a leading cause of years lived with disability2 and is strongly associated with the onset and progression of cardiovascular diseases.3 Both animals and humans exhibit distinct patterns of physical and psychological responses to various stressors, which lead to complex physiological adjustments adapted to environmental demands.4 These adjustments include increased sympathetic activity, activation of the sympatho-adrenal medullary and hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenocortical (HPA) axes, and elevated corticosterone (CORT) levels.5 Moreover, depression can reduce the expression of monoamine neurotransmitters, such as dopamine (DA) and serotonin (5-HT), which not only impact the central nervous system but also play a pivotal role in renal and cardiac function.6 ,7 Cardiac injury induced by stress is likely a sec","cbCaim0xJyQAUmFN","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaim0xJyQAUmFN","pdf",13025082,18,"English","# Summary\n# Introduction","[{\"question\":\"What role does ERS play in psychosocial stress-induced myocardial injury?\",\"answer\":\"ERS is connected to myocardial injury, with the study highlighting ERS modulation of autophagy dysfunction and inflammatory responses.\"},{\"question\":\"Which biomarkers and physiological measures were associated with depression patients?\",\"answer\":\"Serum levels of NLRP3, NF-κB, and IL-1 were elevated, while heart rate variability (HRV) parameters were reduced.\"},{\"question\":\"How were autophagy and inflammation assessed in the study?\",\"answer\":\"ERS-induced autophagy and inflammation were assessed using western blot and immunofluorescence staining, complemented by neuron evaluation via Nissl and TUNEL staining.\"}]","Effects of psychosocial stress on myocardial injury by modulating endoplasmic reticulum stress-induced autophagy and inflammation | PDF",1790602738,45]
