Again, I’ll say how quickly time flies when you are having fun and working as diligently as we all do here at BVPS. A very sincere thankyou to all teachers, students and parents who continue to support our work and provide our students with the best possible opportunities for continual growth. \n‘when we work together we will continue to make a difference ’ \nGETTING READY FOR LEARNING \nI hope you have managed to stay warm this week with very low temperatures being the norm. \nIn order to facilitate a positive beginning to the day, our students are encouraged to begin entering the warm neighbourhoods at 8.45am. They are greeted by teachers who are ready to welcome and help them prepare for the learning ahead. This preparation will contribute to a successful day of learning, it helps build relationships with our students and ensures that everyone is ‘ready for learning.’ It is very positive to see so many students at school on time and preparing \nfor learning. This is a very important time of the day and we want to encourage you to send your children to school on time so that they don’t miss out on this. \nREMEMBER: \nEVERY DAY COUNTS AND SO DOES EVERY MINUTE!! \nThank you to the parents who have made a concerted effort to get their children to school regularly and on time. It makes a very big difference to the students and teachers. It demonstrates that you value education and support the school. \nPARENT TEACHER INTERVIEWS \nParent teacher interviews were very well attended this week and we are thrilled to have seen so many parents in our learning spaces hearing about the achievements and future learning of their children. The interviews this semester allowed parents and teachers to have in depth discussion about students and how parents can support the learning at home. \nWe would like to thank all of the parents that did respond and who did attend. \nThere were many parents who didn’t attend and who didn’t phone to let us know that they \ncouldn’t make it. Many interpreters were booked to support the interviews, and many were cancelled because the interview did not go ahead. We understand that circumstances change and things happen in all our lives that we don’t foresee, a phone call to inform us of this is greatly appreciated. \nThe parent teacher interviews are an important event in your children’s schooling. We ask that you attend 2 times a year. This is another way in which you can show your children that you support them, you support the teachers and the school. We look forward to seeing you all in Semester 2. \nHave a great weekend and I look forward to welcoming you all into week 11! \nRegards Carmela \nLN1 News! \nDuring Enrichment this term students have been learning about and exploring the question‘where do I belong?’ They have learnt about their family history including where their family comes from and Aboriginal/ Australian culture. Over the last couple of weeks students have been working in four different inquiry groups. Students chose their inquiry group based on an area of interest to them. \nGeography: Students in the geography group participated in a nature walk around the community. They created a nature bracelet using materials they found on their walk. They also explored Australian symbols and famous \nAustralian landmarks. \nPerforming: Students in the performance group have been singing ‘Waltz Sing Matilda’ and dancing to the ‘Heel and Toe’. They have been exploring and learning traditional Australian songs and folk dances. \nCooking: Students in the cooking group have been learning about traditional Australian foods \nsuch as scones and damper. They researched different recipes and had the opportunity to make damper and pizzas in the Valley kitchen. \nAnimals: Students in the animal group have been learning about and e","cbCairG803cu3fpi","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCairG803cu3fpi","pdf",1209029,"English","# Edition 9: 23 June 2017\n## Getting Ready for Learning\n## Remember: Every Day Counts and So Does Every Minute\n## Parent Teacher Interviews\n## LN1 News: Enrichment Inquiry Groups\n## LN2 Newsletter","[{\"question\":\"What time should students start entering the warm neighbourhoods each day?\",\"answer\":\"Students are encouraged to begin entering the warm neighbourhoods at 8.45am.\"},{\"question\":\"How many times a year should parents attend parent teacher interviews?\",\"answer\":\"Parents are asked to attend 2 times a year.\"},{\"question\":\"What inquiry groups did LN1 students work in during Enrichment, and what did they do?\",\"answer\":\"LN1 inquiry groups included Geography (nature walk and symbols), Performing (songs, dancing, and folk dances), Cooking (traditional foods like scones and damper), and Animals (Aboriginal dream time stories and creating a model of an animal).\"},{\"question\":\"What learning topics were LN2 students focusing on in writing, reading, and maths?\",\"answer\":\"LN2 focused on figurative language (similes and metaphors), questioning webs for reading inferences, and maths fluency using a fidget spinner to answer addition questions.\"}]","EDITION 9 - 23 June 2017 - School Newsletter | PDF",1789704951]
