I was fortunate enough to sit down with \nthe global phenomenon at his usual skatepark just prior to his flight to Rhode Island for the highly anticipated, inaugural X Games, which take place this month. \n@GH0ST FLESH . ART \nN: Hi Eddie, thanks so much for taking the time to talk to me. \nE: Great to see you again, Wheeler. \nN: I guess that gets one thing out of the way: yes, we, in fact, went to high school together. You don’t look much different, I’ll be honest. \nE: Oh, come on, what about all my scrapesand scratches? I’ve even broken my arm, look at this surgery scar! \nN: Fair enough. Let’s get to some questions, starting with the ones the editor of the magazine I’m submitting this to wants me to ask. \nE: Ooh, Wheeler’s still got some attitude. Nice. \nN: Many of your fans know that you also have a passion for guitar; a passion that you have clearly put on the backburner for skateboarding. So, why skateboarding? \nE: As you can confirm with your readers, there wasn’t much to do in the shit hole we grew up in. And, you know, I was dirt [censored] poor. Though I had saved up some money from some…side hustles, let’s call them, I still couldn’t afford my dream guitar. But I was at a pawn shop one day and saw a skateboard and something about it screamed at me to take it home. Or maybe it was because the owner was willing to trade some herbs and spices for it, if you know what I mean. Anyway, I picked up that skateboard, and the rest is history. It gave me the same thrill that playing a guitar did, and it still thrills me today. \nN: So you taught yourself to skateboard? \nE: Yep. I can still remember trying to master a kick flip on the gravel just outside my uncle’s trailer, where I grew up. It took me weeks, but man, that feeling of the rubber hitting the asphalt, knees steady, there ain’t anything like it. Even if I still have rocks stuck in my palms. \nN: To have that kind of passion for something right off the bat is pretty special. \nE: Hell, yeah. And, I admit, I was pretty \nmotivated. There was someone I was trying to impress and that person was pretty athletic, so. \nN: And this person, would it happen to be your well-known actress friend, Chrissy Cunningham? \nE: *laughs* Sure, I guess I impressed her. She left her lame-ass boyfriend and we moved to California together. But, no. It took a few more years to finally get noticed by the person I’m talking about. \nN: Well, I’ll respect your privacy, and I hope readers will do the same. \nE: You don’t know much about being famous, do you? \nN: Nope, and I hope that doesn’t change. Alright, let’s move on to your board. I see you’re holding it pretty tight there; you ever put it down","cbCainfmgnAVw28S","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCainfmgnAVw28S","pdf",51628480,17,"English","# Contents\n## Skater Things in this Zine\n## Interview with Eddie Munson","[{\"question\":\"Why did Eddie Munson choose skateboarding over pursuing guitar?\",\"answer\":\"He describes growing up with limited options and being unable to afford his dream guitar, while a skateboard at a pawn shop immediately felt right and gave him the same thrill.\"},{\"question\":\"How did Eddie Munson learn to skateboard?\",\"answer\":\"He taught himself, practicing a kickflip on gravel outside his uncle’s trailer and taking weeks to master it.\"},{\"question\":\"What is The Demogorgon, according to Eddie Munson?\",\"answer\":\"He explains that The Demogorgon was named after a Dungeons \\u0026 Dragons campaign and that people’s insistence on calling it something else feels inaccurate to him.\"}]","EDDIE MUNSON - SKATER THINGS - INTERVIEW | PDF",1791237066]
