This inconsistency raises concerns about equity, as some ECTs are better positioned for career advancement than others. The study highlights the need for structured support to \nensure equitable access to APSTs integration through professional learning, mentorship, and policy improvements. Further research is needed to examine how varied APSTs experiences impact career \ntrajectories and long-term teacher retention. \nIntroduction \nThe shift from preservice teacher to graduate teacher represents a significant milestone in a career journey. In Australia, the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers (APSTs) serve as a guide for what teachers should know and be able to do at four key stages of their career: Graduate, Proficient, Highly Accomplished and Lead. These standards, designed to shape and assess teacher performance, are intended to be instrumental in the growth and development of teachers across the career span. The integration of APSTs into the professional identities and practices of Early Career Teachers (ECTs) is influenced not only by individual aspirations but also by the institutional ethos and available resources. Despite the potential for the APSTs to serve as guiding principles, questions linger about their efficacy, integration and the ongoing capacity to guide teaching practice. \nAmidst the excitement of entering the teaching profession, ECTs often find themselves grappling with a myriad of challenges. From managing classroom dynamics to navigating administrative tasks, the realities of teaching can sometimes diverge from how ECTs had imagined their experience of teaching would be. As ECTs embark on their teaching career, they encounter a professional landscape shaped by institutional norms, school culture, and dynamic and diverse teaching and learning environments. \nThis paper explores the experiences of newly graduated teachers during their first two years in the profession, focusing on how they adopt and enact the APSTs. By exploring the lived experiences of ECTs, we illuminate the challenges","cbCaio7qiBFzFyNS","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaio7qiBFzFyNS","pdf",405703,16,"English","# Abstract\n# Introduction\n# Australian Professional Standards for Teachers","[{\"question\":\"How are APSTs used differently by early career teachers in this study?\",\"answer\":\"Some ECTs engage with APSTs as a reflective tool, while most interact with them primarily for compliance, especially during registration and career progression milestones.\"},{\"question\":\"What role does school culture play in APSTs engagement?\",\"answer\":\"School culture significantly influences engagement.
