Repeated reading practice also improves students’ confidence in, and enthusiasm for reading. It’s an enjoyable change of pace from everyday practice sessions. \n It gives students the opportunity to practice using expression while reading. \n It helps students with public speaking; encouraging them to use appropriate volume and eye contact when interacting with their audience. \nThis will be an evening event, after school. Unlike the previous events, this will not be gallerystyle, but will run like a performance. Students will need to be dropped off NO LATER than 4:45 to prepare for the event. This will be an evening event from 5:00-6:00pm. In order to help us plan our groups and assign rolls accordingly, we need to know as soon as possible if anyone is unable to attend that evening. If your learner is not able to attend the event, rest assured there will still be plenty of learning and participation in class as we prepare for the event itself and lots they can still participate in “behind the scenes”. If you know in advance that your student has a major scheduling conflict the evening of the event, please let us know as soon as possible so that we can prepare for any understudies or changes in groups. \nWe will have more details coming soon with specifics, but tentatively, we are planning to use the Gym stage for our performance and have students meet in the Music Room. Again, more information to confirm these logistics and specifics will come home soon. We will also send home more information regarding any certain dress or prop use and once scripts are assigned in the coming weeks, copies will come home to practice. Again, these do NOT need to be memorizedstudents are meant to read directly from scripts for the performance. \nWe look forward to celebrating reading with you! \nDusky Monthly \nNEWSLETTER \nReaders Theatre Culminating Event \nWe will be hosting our final culminating event on Wednesday, June 11th. This event will focus on Reader’s Theater, and each student will participate in an oral reading, as a part in performing a scripted skit. Readers’ Theater is an activity in which students, while reading directly from scripts, are able to tell a story in a most entertaining form, without or with minimal props, costumes, or sets. This is a reading activity, and students are not asked to memorize their lines. They are, however, encouraged to \"ham it up\" and use intonation and gestures appropriate to their characters and their characters’ words. \nReaders’ Theater serves many useful functions: \nField Trip To Leslie Science Center \nWe’re excited to explore the Leslie Science Center as our final field trip of the year! We will have the chance to explore the pollinator program, Insect Investigations, which involves science center educators leading the group in activities, like building a bug to learn insect body parts and using small models to put the lifecycle of insects in the correct order, playing a game where students split into smaller groups and act as a beehive, and gathering nectar and protecting their queen. Students will also be exploring the Critter house, which is full of Michigan native reptiles and amphibians, and going on a nature hike, focused on looking for signs of insects and where would be a good insect habitat. Please be sure to return permissionslips, student payment of $12 and lunch preference forms as soon as possible. Any and all chaperones will be confirmed via email. Please be advised chaperones should plan to drive as we won’t have much extra room on the bus. The science center suggests carpooling to help with parking spaces. We’re really looking forward to an exciting adventure! \nImportant Dates & Contact \n5-5-5-9: Staff Appreciation Week 5/12-Parent Council Meeting-6pm at CSPA 5/12-5/13-NWEA Testing \n5/16-Kindergarten Round Up \n5/21-Field Trip to Leslie Science Center 5/22-Rollerama-5:00pm \n5/26-NO SCHOOL, Memo","cbCaimPF1VAPpV33","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaimPF1VAPpV33","pdf",2504971,"English","# Readers Theatre Culminating Event\n## Evening event schedule and participation\n## Scripts, logistics, and preparation\n# Field Trip To Leslie Science Center\n## Activities and student learning experiences\n## Permissions, payments, and chaperones\n# Important Dates & Contact\n# What We are Working On\n## Reading\n## Writing\n## Math","[{\"question\":\"What is the Readers’ Theater culminating event on June 11 like?\",\"answer\":\"The event is an evening Readers’ Theater performance where each student participates in an oral reading as part of a scripted skit.
