CECILIA SCHOOL TO PRINCETON UNIVERSITY  \nBeing privy to the minds of young students as they begin to understand concepts in mathematics and language, while witnessing their confidence spill over into enthusiasm for learning, has been one of the greatest privileges of my life. Moreover, through my work with students, I have come to know many mothers and fathers whose selflessness is for me a humbling experience.  \nPerfect examples are Odina, a student from my neighborhood, and her mother Nkechi. They entered my life when Odina was preparing for high school entrance tests. She had a delightful smile that gave the impression of introspection. Nkechi, a hardworking woman who steadfastly focused on her daughter’s education, would often speak with me after class while Odina gracefully twirled around the room with a happily wistful smile on her face. Then, before graduating grade school, Odina began taking my SAT courses, certainly earlier than most students. When her in-class SAT scores started increasing exponentially, I recognized in this very pleasant young girl a deep intellect. Thankfully, Princeton has also recognized Odina’s gifts, which I trust she will use to help our world become a better place. God bless you always, Odina! I had switched to a new school in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia-St. Cecila School, and I needed to get accustomed to the different exams like the HSPT and the TerraNova. Dr. Pace is really funny, and kept me engaged with her teachings, while also imparting crucial knowledge and strategies. I enjoyed asking Dr. Pace questions and going over my progress with her. Odina studied hard, receiving many awards for multiple subjects, including being one of the recipients ofthe 2024 Westtown School Most Distinguished Scholar Award. She spent her time progressing in math and science courses, while also participating on the school’s robotics team, string orchestra, and cooking club. Odina continued to work with Dr. Pace for the SAT exam and applied to colleges that would serve to further her interests in computer science and music.
