This guide is designed to help parents, carers and guardians understand the options available, ask helpful questions and support informed decisions about university, TAFE and future pathways. \nIn the transition from school to university, young people will learn to manage their student workload more independently and continue to develop skills to balance their studies with the rest of their life. Here are somethings you can expect: \n> They will be responsible for their own success, allocating their time, and most importantly finding their own balance between study and other aspects of their life \n> If studying on campus, they will have the freedom to come and go at any time \n> Lecturers and tutors are approachable and supportive, but they don’t check up on students to make sure they’re following the course readings. This gives young people independence, but it can also be an adjustment \n> Whether studying at university or TAFE, independent learning is key. For Higher Education, we recommend students allocate 10-12 hours per week per subject, mostly outside the classroom \n1 \nWhy choose CDU? \nWe understand that choosing what comes after high school is about more than selecting a course. It’s about helping the young person in your life explore their interests, understand strengths, discover new opportunities and shape a future that reflects their goals and values. \nAt CDU, students are supported to do this in a welcoming and inclusive environment. Our community reflects the diversity of the regions we serve, including a strong and growing number of First Nations students. \nWe are connected to community, to Country and to industry.
