States may choose to incorporate parts or all of the provided material in their SESPs (optional) . States are encouraged to adapt or supplement the provided material to align with existing state roles, authorities, and plans; and to better address state-specific needs and situations. This document is not intended to be prescriptive or suggest nonstatutory expansion of State Energy Office responsibilities, which may vary significantly from state to state. \nInterdependencies and connections exisit between critical infrastructure elements and sectors. Identifying and understanding interdependencies (two-way) or dependencies (oneway) between infrastructure assets and sectors is important for assessing risks and vulnerabilities and energy security and resilience planning. \nThe Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has defined 16 critical infrastructure sectors, including energy. All of the the other critical infrastructure sectors depend on power and/or fuel to operate. A disruption or loss of the services provided by the energy sector can directly affect the secuirty and resilience within and across numerous sectors. The energy sector also depends on other sectors to help provide its services. There are also interdependencies within the energy sector itself. A comprehensive understanding of such interdependencies enables the sector to mitigate potential vulnerabilities and helps ensure that the nation’s economy continues to deliver goods and services during extraordinary events. \nThis document contains diagrams showing key dependencies and interdependencies between the energy sector and other critical infrastructure sectors. Diagrams include the following: \n• Electricity Interdependencies \n• Liquid Fuels Interdependencies \n• Natural Gas Interdependencies","cbCailb0UDFANzbQ","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCailb0UDFANzbQ","pdf",495420,"English","# Purpose and Use\n## Optional incorporation into SESP development\n# Critical infrastructure interdependencies\n## DHS critical infrastructure sectors and energy dependence\n## Two-way interdependencies and risk planning value\n# Included diagrams\n## Electricity interdependencies\n## Liquid fuels interdependencies\n## Natural gas interdependencies","[{\"question\":\"What is the purpose of this DOE CESER CESER SESP drop-in resource?\",\"answer\":\"To help states develop State Energy Security Plans by providing optional cross-sector interdependency diagram material for energy security and resilience planning.\"},{\"question\":\"How do energy and other critical infrastructure sectors relate according to the document?\",\"answer\":\"Other critical infrastructure sectors depend on power and/or fuel from the energy sector, and the energy sector also depends on other sectors to deliver services.\"},{\"question\":\"Which types of diagrams are included in the document?\",\"answer\":\"Diagrams are provided for electricity interdependencies, liquid fuels interdependencies, and natural gas interdependencies between the energy sector and other critical infrastructure sectors.\"}]","DOE CESER SESP Drop-In - Cross-Sector Interdependency Diagrams - May 2022 | PDF",13]
