Your class provides knowledge in some weapons , reflecting both the focus of the class and the tools you are likely to use. If you prefer Longsword or Longbow , your weapon and your ability to own them effectively can mean the difference between life and death while Adventuring. The Weapon Table shows the most common weapons used in fantasy gaming worlds , their price and weight , the damage they cause when they hit , and any special properties they possess. Each weapon is classified as hand-to-hand combat or within range. Melee weapons are used to attack targets within 5 feet of you , while long-range weapons are used to attack targets from a distance. Your race , class and feats can provide you with knowledge with certain weapons or categories of weapons. These two categories are simple and combative. Most people can use simple weapons with skill. These weapons include clubs , maces and other weapons , often found in the hands of the simple. Combat weapons , including swords , axes and pole weapons , require more specialized training for effective use. Most warriors use combat weapons because these weapons put their fighting style and training to the best use. The profession with weapons allows you to add your bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with this weapon. If you do a roll of attack with a weapon with which you lack skill , you do not add your bonus to the attack. Many weapons have special properties associated with their use , as shown in the weapons table. You can use a weapon that has a property of ammunition to make a range attack only if you have ammunition to fire from weapons. Every time you attack with a weapon , you spend one piece of ammunition. Drawing ammunition from a quiver , hull or other container is part of the attack (you need a free hand to load a single hand weapon) . At the end of the battle , you can recover half of your spent ammunition by taking a minute to search the battlefield. If you use a weapon that has the property of ammunition to make melee , you treat the weapon as a homemade weapon (see Homemade weapon later in the section) . The sling must be loaded to cause any damage when used in this way. When you create an attack with the grace of a weapon , you use your choice of your strength or Dexterity modifier to attack and damage Rolls. You should use the same modifier for both rolls. Small creatures have a disadvantage on attack rolls with heavy weapons. The size of heavy weapons and bulk make it too big for a small creature to use effectively. Light weapons are small Easy to handle , making it ideal for use when dealing with two weapons. Because of the time it takes to load this weapon , you can only shoot one piece of ammunition out of it when you use action , bonus action , or Fire Reaction , regardless of attacks that you can usually do. The weapon , which can be used to attack from a range , has a range in brackets after ammunition or abandoned property. The range lists two numbers. First , it is the usual range of weapons in the legs , and the second indicates a long range weapon. When you attack a target outside the usual range , you have a flaw on the attack roll. You can't attack a target beyond long range weapons. This weapon adds 5 feet to your reach when you attack with it , and when determining your reach for attack capabilities with it. Weapons with special properties have unusual rules governing their use , explained in the description of the weapon (see Special Weapon later in this section) . If the weapon has an abandoned property , you can drop the weapon to make a long-range attack. If the weapon is a melee weapon , you will use the same modifier ability for this attack roll and damage roll which you will use for melee attacks with weapons. For example , if you throw Handaxe , you use your strength , but if you throw a dagger , you can use either your strength or ","cbCairYyfhmznskY","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCairYyfhmznskY","pdf",46091,"English","# Throwing and ranged weapon rules\n## Weapon table, categories, and attack bonuses\n## Ammunition usage and loading\n## Range, reach, and special properties\n## Improvised and homemade weapons\n## Silver weapons and special weapon examples","[{\"question\":\"How does ammunition work for ranged weapon attacks?\",\"answer\":\"Each attack with a weapon that uses ammunition spends one piece of ammunition.
