Personally , I think the d20 system is too abstract to do this regular sort of thing , but for each its own. The main thing s he complained about was that the losses were not really a penalty , asthe characters did not suffer any negative consequences for these losses , except that anyone who lost an arm could not fight with two weapons , and anyone who lost an arm could not go to the sword and board. Apparently , her GM didn't even use the rule of hand ness (so don't hand the punishment) . So , I started looking around in 3.5 corebooks , and I can't find anything about specific penalties imposed by limbs or eye loss. I seem to remember someone complaining to me before that there aren't any official ones that seem to go along with the whole abstract thing system , but then there are spells like regeneration , the whole job of which is to fix this kind of thing. I'm crazy and I just can't find them? Or really there are no rules for that? And if not , should it be? And finally , does anyone use the loss of body parts as a regular part of their games? I use them only in exceptional circumstances. Since my home game is mostly based on t he Arcana Evolved rule set , limb loss is one possible option for disfiguring injuries to avoid death with a hero's point , although I never identify this kind of thing randomly. I'd really like to hear people contribute to this. Jeremy Puckett AFAIK is nothing specific. However , there are several conditions and states defined. Blindness can cover eye loss and so on. Losing limbs is more complex , but you can probably find among some class abilities , or the like , a way to emulate it if they are not found in addition. I don't usually use limb loss as a regular part of the game. I tend to prefer lethal combat systems and rules with some kind of flaw/flaw/regardless of the system , including things like limb loss. I'm just not sure I'd bother with it in the DSO , at least not when using ablation points to hit like they are now. Yes , there are rules of blindness , but not for the loss of one eye. You'd think they'd have something for him... Jeremy Puckett DMG p. 27 (in edition 3.5) has a rule option for damaging specific areas and the consequences of this. It's relatively easy , but doesn't really cover the total loss of limbs. That's what I'd use common sense for. Lost your leg? Do you have a crutch on hand? If so , half the speed. If not? Can you do a Tumble check move on your hands? No? It's fun to sit on the corner. Lost your hand? If Hand , enjoy out-of-hand penalties and the missing AC bonus of your shield. Oh , and forget pulling yourself any rope until you've developed the jaw musculature of the musculature You can understand why limb loss has never been so popular with the D. D. crowd. However... wouldn't clerics create spells to treat lost limbs? Although TWF-Penalties are there and it's only a 4x3 table or so , there's no logic behind it-except for some game balancing in a lot of 'fighting games' . Once the fight is not the main focus of your game , you can waive these rules (or go for something simpler) Bastion's Torn Asunder has rules for doing so and less damage to different parts of the body , as well as rules on how healing spells fix such damage. Some quick and dirty rules include: Eye (broken or cut) : -6 for range attacks for 1d6 days , then-2 for range attacks afterwards. Bonus of 3 euros for saves from attacks of death. blindness if both lost. Ear (broken or cut off): -1 initiative , -2 listen checks , 5% secret chance of failure , -4 penalties on saves from deafness. deafness if both lost. Jawbone (broken) : 75% secret chance of failure of spells , -4 penalty diplomacy , bluff , and intimidating checks , bite attack lost. Death if a severed arm (broken) : -6 assault penalty when using a normal w","cbCaib2iTES8SUcZ","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaib2iTES8SUcZ","pdf",41973,"English","# Limb loss rules in DnD 5e and earlier editions\n## Penalties vs. flavor\n## Using common sense and blindness rules\n## Turning limb loss into a system\n### Example injury chart and quick rules","[{\"question\":\"Do the official 3.5 corebooks include specific mechanical penalties for losing limbs or eyes?\",\"answer\":\"The text states the author cannot find specific penalties for limb loss or eye loss in the 3.5 corebooks, aside from related ideas like blindness and spells such as regeneration to repair damage.\"},{\"question\":\"What alternative mechanics does the discussion recommend for limb loss consequences?\",\"answer\":\"It suggests using DMG rules for damaging specific areas, applying common-sense consequences (e.g., reduced speed or weapon-use restrictions), and optionally using blindness rules where applicable even if there is no direct rule for losing one eye.\"},{\"question\":\"What house-rule system does the text provide for limb loss outcomes?\",\"answer\":\"It gives quick-and-dirty numeric penalties for various injuries (eyes, ears, jaw, severed/broken arms and hands, and broken/severed legs), and then proposes a d20-based injury chart that maps roll ranges to body-part injuries.\"}]","Dnd 5e losing limbs | PDF",1791250338]
