Players aim to make a division answer as close as possible to a chosen target number between 1 and 10, where an exact remainder-free result is not required. The activity builds division skills alongside estimation, rounding, and finding the difference between each answer and the target. It is designed for 2 or more players and typically uses digit cards, a game board, a calculator, and paper.",{"@graph":14,"@context":73},[15,34,56],{"@type":16,"itemListElement":17},"BreadcrumbList",[18,23,27,31],{"item":19,"name":20,"@type":21,"position":22},"https://docshare.wps.com","Home","ListItem",1,{"item":24,"name":25,"@type":21,"position":26},"https://docshare.wps.com/document/","Document",2,{"item":28,"name":29,"@type":21,"position":30},"https://docshare.wps.com/document/exam/","Exam",3,{"item":32,"name":10,"@type":21,"position":33},"https://docshare.wps.com/document/division-target-game-2-digit-division-by-1-digit-for-3rd-grade/635980/",4,{"url":32,"name":10,"@type":35,"image":36,"author":41,"headline":10,"publisher":44,"fileFormat":47,"inLanguage":8,"description":12,"dateModified":48,"datePublished":49,"encodingFormat":47,"isAccessibleForFree":50,"interactionStatistic":51},"DigitalDocument",{"url":37,"@type":38,"width":39,"height":40},"https://docshare.wps.com/thumbnails/division-target-game-2-digit-division-by-1-digit-for-3rd-grade/635980.png","ImageObject",300,407,{"name":42,"@type":43},"Dipper","Person",{"url":19,"name":45,"@type":46},"DocShare","Organization","application/pdf","2026-10-30","2026-10-22",true,{"@type":52,"interactionType":53,"userInteractionCount":55},"InteractionCounter",{"@type":54},"ViewAction",6,{"@type":57,"mainEntity":58},"FAQPage",[59,65,69],{"name":60,"@type":61,"acceptedAnswer":62},"What is the goal of the Division Target Game?","Question",{"text":63,"@type":64},"Choose and play divisions so your answer is as close as possible to the target number. The aim of the game is to make an answer as close as possible to the target number. Making an exact answer with no remainder is not important. Age Range: 3rd Grade+ \nNumber of players: 2+ \nLearning: division, estimation, rounding, working out the difference You will need \n- a sets of digit cards (0-9) per player \n- a Game board for each player-cut out \n- A calculator and a piece of paper \nInstructions \n• Player 1 chooses a target number between 1 and 10 and announces the number to therest of the players. This needs to be written down on a piece of paper. \n• Shuffle the sets of digit cards and place them face down in a pile. \n• Player 1 takes a digit card from the pile. Player 1 then places the digit card on their number board to try to make a division with an answer as close to the target number as possible. Players will need to use their rounding, estimating and dividing skills to workout the best place for each digit. Calculators are not available at this stage! \n• Player 2 then takes a digit card and places it on their board to make a division with an answer as close to the target number as they can. \n• Player 1 then takes a second card, and places on one of the remaining spaces on their number board. \n• No player can move any digit card once they have placed it on their board. \n• Once both players have finished placing their 3 digits, each player works out their division calculation using a calculator, and see how close they are to the target number. To do this players have to work out the difference between their own answer and the target number. \n• The winner is the player who gets closest the target number. \nVariations \n• Roll a ten sided dice (or pick a digit card at random) to choose the target number at the start of each game. \n• Alternative winning strategies: \no The player with the largest answer wins, or \no The player with the smallest answer wins","cbCairC1Emkej5Xd","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCairC1Emkej5Xd","pdf",195194,"English","# Overview\n## Learning goals\n## What you need\n## Instructions\n## Variations","[{\"question\":\"What is the goal of the Division Target Game?\",\"answer\":\"Choose and play divisions so your answer is as close as possible to the target number.
