Dinosaur Movie-Pick out a “dino-mite” dinosaur movie to watch with the whole family. \n4. Dinosaur Scavenger Hunt-Ok, so you’ve been on the dino dig , eaten some cookies and watched a dinosaur movie, what’s left to do, you ask? Go on a dinosaur scavenger hunt. \n5. Coloring- If your Dinosaur Day celebrations have become a little too “roarr-some” (with emphasis on the roar…), perhaps it’s time to calm it down with a mindful coloring activity. The coloring pages are dinosaurs featured here at the museum: Gorgosaurus libratus, Triceratops, Archaeopteryx, Ankylosaurus, Dromaeosaurs, and Corythosaurus. \n6. Reading-Continue the quiet time by reading dino-rrific books on dinosaurs. \n1. Paper Dino Dig \nGorgosaurus libratus \nInstructions for the Paper Dino Dig, \nPrint the image of Gorgosaurus libratus on white paper and color in the dinosaur or print on colored cardstock paper. \nCut out the 4 pieces of the puzzle. \nBury the pieces in a shallow tray of sand or kinetic sand. \nYou can excavate with your fingers or use tools such as small scoops, paintbrushes, a sieve, cocktail sticks, a magnifying glass, tweezers, or tongs. \nDig out the bones and put the puzzle together. \nFun facts about the Gorgosaurus dinosaur \n1. Gorgosaurus or‘fierce lizard’ was a member of the Tyrannosauridae family – the same family as Tyrannosaurus Rex. \n2. More Gorgosaurus fossils have been found than any other Tyrannosaurid. \n3 Gorgosaurus grew up to 9m (30 ft. ) in length and weighed around 2.5 metric tonnes. \n4. It was a theropod. \n5. It walked on two powerful hind legs but had short arms. \n6. Most Gorgosaurus specimens have been found in the Dinosaur Park formation in Alberta, Canada. \n7. A juvenile Gorgosaurus would be called a hatchling simply because these animals are oviparous and reproduced by laying eggs. \n8. It may have spent up to half of its life in a juvenile stage before undergoing a quick growth spurt to reach adulthood. \n9. It lived in a lush floodplain environment along the edge of an inland sea. \n2. Bake Dinosaur Footprint Cookies \nCut small rounds of store-bought cookie dough. \nStomp toy dinosaur feet into the cookie to resemble dinosaur fossils footprints. \nMake sure the toy figurines are non-toxic and sanitize them with soap and water first. \nPaint the footprints with the green food colouring. \nBake at 180 degrees C for 15 minutes or until lightly golden. \nAllow biscuits to cool on trays for 5 minutes then transfer to wire racks to cool completely. Serve to your hungry little and big dinosaurs. \n3. Dinosaur Movie \nPick out a “dino-mite” dinosaur movie to watch with the whole family. \n4. Dinosaur Scavenger Hunt \nDinosaurs thrived for nearly 180 million years. Some of the plant and animal groups that are around today lived during the Cretaceous period. \nCan you find them today? \nPinecone \nDragon fly \nTwo versions of the Dinosaur Scavenger Hunt: \nVersion 1: Simply see how many items you can spot! \nYou will need: a pencil and a printout of the Dinosaur Scavenger Hunt so you can tick off items as you find them. \nVersion 2: Choose a set of challenges from the list below. \nYou will need: A pencil and a printout of the Dinosaur Scavenger Hunt.
