It measures listening, speaking, reading, and writing and is accepted by thousands of universities and schools around the world. You can take the test anytime and anywhere. There are over 250 practice questions in this book-the same number of questions you would see taking the DET five times. The questions are grouped by question type, starting with a brief explanation. They are presented in the same order as in the DET. To listen to audio, scan the QR codes. Within each question type, the questions in this book are presented in order of difficulty. Easier questions are shown earlier and harder questions are shown later. For example, Question 1 on Interactive Reading is easier than Question 10.  \nYou can find correct answers for all the comprehension (reading and listening) questions by going to the Answers section at the back of the book. For Interactive Listening questions, you will find full conversationsat the end of the book. Transcripts for Interactive Speaking questions are included too.  \nThe DET is a computer-adaptive test, meaning the difficulty of the questions changes based on how well you do. If you get a question wrong, the next one will be easier; if you get one right, the next one will be harder. See the Additional Resources section at the back of this book for links to this and other resources.  \nWho is this book for?  \nThis book is for teachers who are helping their students prepare for the DET and students themselves.  \nHow to use this book  \nThis book of practice questions lets students (and teachers) do several things that cannot be done using online practice questions.  \nTeachers can:  \n• Model strategies. Show your students how to approach questions, for example by underlining key words or planning aloud before answering.  \n• Vary practice conditions. Change time limits and levels of support so students can focus on doing the task well before working at test speed.  \n• Practice skills in isolation. Focus on one skill at a time, such as organizing ideas, writing introductions or speaking fluently.  \n• Analyze errors. Use errors as a guide. Analyze mistakes with your students and turn them into short lessons on grammar, vocabulary, or test strategies.  \n• Revisit questions. After giving feedback, have students redo a question while applying a specific strategy or addressing a specific task demand. Repetition with focused feedback helps learning stick.  \nStudents can:  \n• Adjust timing strategically. If you are new to a question type, allow yourself more time than in the real test so you can focus on understanding what is being asked and how to answer effectively.
