The process is organized into five steps: concept development, spatial development, technical drawings and physical model, detailing and three-dimensional representation, and finalization. An interdisciplinary approach is used to stimulate creative thinking by linking interior architecture with retailing and branding concepts during the design of a concept store. The staged semester structure helps students advance gradually, align solutions with their conceptual ideas, and assess progress. Results may benefit students, design educators, and designers interested in design-process and interdisciplinarity practices.",{"@graph":14,"@context":71},[15,34,54],{"@type":16,"itemListElement":17},"BreadcrumbList",[18,23,27,31],{"item":19,"name":20,"@type":21,"position":22},"https://docshare.wps.com","Home","ListItem",1,{"item":24,"name":25,"@type":21,"position":26},"https://docshare.wps.com/document/","Document",2,{"item":28,"name":29,"@type":21,"position":30},"https://docshare.wps.com/document/research-report/","Research & Report",3,{"item":32,"name":10,"@type":21,"position":33},"https://docshare.wps.com/document/designing-a-concept-store-an-interdisciplinary-design-process/649846/",4,{"url":32,"name":10,"@type":35,"image":36,"author":41,"headline":10,"publisher":44,"fileFormat":47,"inLanguage":8,"description":12,"dateModified":48,"datePublished":48,"encodingFormat":47,"isAccessibleForFree":49,"interactionStatistic":50},"DigitalDocument",{"url":37,"@type":38,"width":39,"height":40},"https://docshare.wps.com/thumbnails/designing-a-concept-store-an-interdisciplinary-design-process/649846.png","ImageObject",300,407,{"name":42,"@type":43},"dawugda","Person",{"url":19,"name":45,"@type":46},"DocShare","Organization","application/pdf","2026-10-24",true,{"@type":51,"interactionType":52,"userInteractionCount":4},"InteractionCounter",{"@type":53},"ViewAction",{"@type":55,"mainEntity":56},"FAQPage",[57,63,67],{"name":58,"@type":59,"acceptedAnswer":60},"What is the main objective of the study?","Question",{"text":61,"@type":62},"To present a design method for interior architecture education that guides students through the stages of developing their projects.","Answer",{"name":64,"@type":59,"acceptedAnswer":65},"How is the design process structured in the proposed method?",{"text":66,"@type":62},"It is organized into five stages: concept development; The design process is structured into five stages: concept development; spatial development; technical drawings and physical model; detailing and three-dimensional representation; finalization. The second goal is to adopt an interdisciplinary approach to stimulate creative thinking. Therefore, in this project interior architecture was related to several aspects of retailing and branding during the design process of a concept store. The proposed method has encouraged the formation of conceptual ideas in response to a defined design problem. By integrating interior architectural problems with retailing concepts, students have learned to analyze, research, devise design ideas, and transfer ideas into spatial compositions. This led to creative design solutions and diverse design approaches. The organization of the semester into stages has guided the students to approach the design problem gradually and to explore design solutions parallel to their conceptual ideas. By the end of the semester, the students were able to comprehend their progress along the design stages and to benefit from the interdisciplinary approach. Findings may be beneficial for students, design educators and designers interested in design process, interdisciplinarity processes, and designing retailing concept stores. The developed method may be used to provide students with structured design process skills.\u003Cbr>Highlights |\n\nKeywords \ninterior architecture education; \ninterior design education; design studio; design process; interdisciplinary education \nArticle Information \nReceived: \n03.03.2021 \nReceived in Revised Form: \n13.06.2021 \nAccepted: 07.07.2021 Available Online: \n29.07.2021 \nArticle Category \nResearch Article \nContact \n• The adoption of an interdisciplinary approach stimulates creative thinking. \n• Dividing the design process into stages is helpful for students to approach the project correctly. \n• Stages of design process support the systematic development of a design project. \n• The interior architecture field may contribute greatly to the experience and value of brands. \n• Interior architecture education can benefit from including knowledge regarding the profession's effects on brands. \n1.
