OVER HEAD TANK \nMAIN PROJECT REPORT \nSubmitted in partial fulfilment of the Requirements for the award of the degree of \nBachelor of Technology In \nCivil Engineering \nBy \nG.HEMALATHA J.TEJASWI \n(09245A0105) (09245A0106) \nUnder the esteemed guidance of \nMR.MALLIKARJUN REDDY \nAssistant professor of Civil Engineering Department \nDepartment of Civil Engineering Gokaraju Rangaraju Institute of Engineering and Technology \n(Affiliated to JNTU) \nHyderabad \n2012 \nDESIGN OF R.C.C OVERHEAD TANK \nABSTRACT \nStorage reservoirs and overhead tank are used to store water, liquid petroleum, petroleum products and similar liquids. The force analysis of the reservoirs or tanks is about the same irrespective of the chemical nature of the product. All tanks are designed as crack free structures to eliminate any leakage. \nThis project gives in brief, the theory behind the design of liquid retaining structure (Elevated circular water tank with domed roof and conical base) using working stress method. Elements are design in limit state method. \nACKNOWLEDGEMENTS \nI would like to express my gratitude to all the people behind the screen who helped me to transform an idea into a real application. \nI would like to express my heart-felt gratitude to my parents without whom I would not have been privileged to achieve and fulfill my dreams. Iam grateful to our principal, \nMr. Jandyala N.Murthi who most ably run the institution and has had the major hand in enabling me to do my project. \nI profoundly thank Mr. G.Venkataramana, Head of the Department of CIVIL Engineering who has been an excellent guide and also a great source of inspiration to my work. \nI would like to thank my internal guide Mr. V.Mallikarjun reddy Asst.Professor for his technical guidance, constant encouragement and support in carrying out my project at college. \nThe satisfaction and euphoria that accompany the successful completion of the task would be great but incomplete without the mention of the people who made it possible with their constant guidance and encouragement crowns all the efforts with success. In this context, I would like thank all the other staff members, both teaching and non-teaching, who have extended their timely help and eased my task. \nG.Hemalatha 09245A0105 J.
