APPROVED FOR PUBLIC RELEASE; DISTRIBUTION IS UNLIMITED . \nMIL-HDBK-1013/10 \nABSTRACT \nThis military handbook, MIL-HDBK-1013/10, provides the latest state-of-the-art criteria for security fencing, gates, barriers, and guard facilities and is primarily intended for use by Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFACENGCOM) design engineers and architectural and engineering firms. The contents cover specific criteria to be used during the selection, design, and construction of security fencing, gates, barriers, and guard facilities. \nMIL-HDBK-1013/10 \nFOREWORD \nThis military handbook has been developed from an evaluation of security requirements contained in Department of the Navy and DOD directives, surveys of new materials and construction methods, evaluation and selection of the best design practices of Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC), other Government agencies, and the private sector . It uses national, professional, and other society, association, and institute standards to the maximum extent feasible. Any deviations from the criteria contained in this handbook for the planning, engineering, and design of physical security fencing, gates, barriers, and/or guard facilities for Navy shore facilities shall not be made without prior approval of NAVFACENGCOM headquarters (Code 04) . \nDesign of security fencing, gates, barriers, and guard facilities does not remain static any more than the functions they serve or the technology they use. As such, recommendations for improvement of this handbook are encouraged from within the Navy, other Government agencies, and the private sector . Recommendations should be furnished on DD Form 1426 (provided inside the back cover) to the Naval Civil Engineering Laboratory (NCEL), Code L30, 560 Laboratory Drive, Port Hueneme, CA 93043-4328, telephone DSN 551-5743, (805) 982-5743 . \nTHIS HANDBOOK SHALL NOT BE USED AS A REFERENCE DOCUMENT FOR PROCUREMENT OF FACILITIES CONSTRUCTION . IT IS TO BE USED IN THE PURCHASE OF FACILITIES \nENGINEERING STUDIES AND DESIGN (FINAL PLANS, SPECIFICATIONS, OR ESTIMATES) . \nDO NOT REFERENCE IT IN MILITARY OR FEDERAL SPECIFICATIONS OR OTHER PROCUREMENT DOCUMENTS . \nMIL-HDBK-1013/10 \nCriteria Manuals \nMIL-HDBK-1013/1 \nDM-13 .02 \nMIL-HDBK-1013/4 \nMIL-HDBK-1013/5 \nMIL-HDBK-1013/7 \nMIL-HDBK-1013/8 \nMIL-HDBK-1013/10 \nPHYSICAL SECURITY CRITERIA MANUALS \nTitle \nDesign Guidelines for Physical Security of Fixed Land-Based \nFacilities \nCommercial Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS) \nInstruction for Design, Fabrication and Construction/Installation of Secure Enclosures \nSteel-Ply Wall Hardening Selection and Installation Guide \nSecurity Hardware Installation, Operation and Maintenance \nCombination Locks \nDesign Guidelines for Security Fencing, Gates, Barriers, and Guard Facilities \nPreparing Activity \nNCEL \nLANTDIV \nNCEL \nNCEL \nNCEL \nNCEL \nNCEL \nMIL-HDBK-1013/10 \nDESIGN GUIDELINES FOR SECURITY FENCING, GATES, \nBARRIERS, AND GUARD FACILITIES \nCONTENTS \nPage \nSection 1 INTRODUCTION \n1.1 Scope . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . \n1.2 Cancellation . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . \n1.3 Criteria Documentation . . . . . . . . . . . . . . \n1.4 Application . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . \n1.5 Technical Approach for Fence Design . . . . . . . \n1.6 NATO Criteria . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . \n1.7 Preliminary Physical Security Considerations . . . \n1.8 Fencing Modifications . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . \n1.9 Cost of Security . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . \nSection 2 FENCES \n2.1 Application . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 4 \n2.2 Related Criteria . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 4 \n2.2.1 Initial Barrier Design . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 5 \n2.3 Chain-Link Fences . . . . . .","cbCaipisH7Vwoiyp","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaipisH7Vwoiyp","pdf",899737,73,"English","# Section 1 Introduction\n## Scope\n## Cancellation\n## Criteria Documentation\n## Application\n## Technical Approach for Fence Design\n## NATO Criteria\n## Preliminary Physical Security Considerations\n## Fencing Modifications\n## Cost of Security\n# Section 2 Fences\n## Application\n## Related Criteria\n## Chain-Link Fences\n## Posts and Bracing\n## Chain-link Fence Fabric\n## Outriggers\n## Accessories\n## Erection Requirements\n## Special Security Features\n## Maintenance Considerations\n## Erosion Control\n## Grounding\n## Special Requirements for Fences Equipped with Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS) Sensors\n## Penetration-Resistant Barriers\n# Section 3 Gates\n## Application\n## Related Criteria\n## Types of Gates\n## Design","[{\"question\":\"Who is MIL-HDBK-1013/10 primarily intended for?\",\"answer\":\"It is primarily intended for NAVFACENGCOM design engineers and architectural and engineering firms involved in physical security design and construction.\"},{\"question\":\"What does the handbook cover in security perimeter planning?\",\"answer\":\"It covers selection, design, and construction criteria for security fencing, gates, barriers, and guard facilities, including technical approaches and preliminary physical security considerations.\"},{\"question\":\"Does the handbook allow deviations from its criteria without approval?\",\"answer\":\"Deviations for planning, engineering, and design of physical security fencing and related facilities for Navy shore facilities require prior approval from NAVFACENGCOM headquarters.\"}]","Design Guidelines for Security Fencing, Gates, Barriers, and Guard Facilities - NAVFAC Military Handbook - 10 | PDF",1792827343,184]
