It was developed in accordance with the guidelines presented in the Foundation for the Atlantic Canada Technology Education Curriculum and was designed to address the curriculum indicators specified in the Foundation document for Level I technology education. The course incorporates a problem-based learning approach that allows students to take ownership of their own learning. Students are given the opportunity to learn by doing through the completion of individual and group projects that require them to progress from a design concept toa fabricated prototype. This helps students to develop an appreciation for the interrelation of design and fabrication in practice and to recognize that they are interdependent activities requiring a team approach. \nThis Teacher Resource Guide is a supplement to the curriculum guide for Design & Fabrication 1202. This guide is a practical and comprehensive instructional resource for teachers and contains detailed lesson plans for each target in Strands 1-6 of the curriculum guide. The lesson plans arepresented in an easy-to-read format that includes: \nStrand and Target Number and Name \nCurriculum Indicators \nTeacher and Student Required Resources \nTeacher Preparation \nIntroduction \nPresentation and Suggested Student Activities \nSuggested Assessment and Evaluation \nWrap-up and Closing \nSuggested Resources \nThe print materials to be provided to the class are included at the end of each lesson. Each lesson also features a Suggested Resources section that presents a listing of websites, print materials, and other resources that the teacher or students can refer to for further study. \nThe Teacher Resource Guide for Design & Fabrication 1202 will help minimize teacher preparation time, pace course delivery, and offer enhanced learning opportunities that help ensure students acquire the knowledge and skills identified in the Foundation for the Atlantic Canada Technology Education Curriculum for Level I. \nThe content for Design & Fabrication 1202 will continue to evolve over time to keep abreast of the changes in design and fabrication in industry. It is recommended that Strands 1-4 be covered during the first half of the semester or year, with Strand 5 extending into the second half as a prelude to Strand 6, the Design Project. The scope of the Design Project in Strand 6 can be adjusted if additional time is deemed necessary for the first five strands. We are confident that this comprehensive resource will facilitate course delivery and help ensure quality learning opportunities for your students.. \nDesign & Fabrication 1202 3 Teacher Resource Guide \nThe development of this Teacher Resource Guide for Design & Fabrication 1202 is an iterative process that involves the support and contribution of a variety of professionals working in the education sector in Newfoundland and Labrador. \nSeptember 2026 Version \n● Riley Bennett, Teacher, Mobile Central High School, Mobile School \n● Maggie Hyslop, Teacher, Mount Pearl Senior High School, Mount Pearl \n● Cole Murphy, Teacher, Holy Heart of Mary High School, St John's \n● Scott Blundon, Program Development Specialist, Programs & Services Division, Department of Education and Early Childhood Development \nSeptember 2006 Version \n● Eldred Barnes: Director, Division of Program Development, Department of Edu","cbCaislTArmUYcmj","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaislTArmUYcmj","pdf",932272,213,"English","# Foreword\n# Acknowledgements\n# Overview and Rationale\n# Course Outline\n# Student Assessment and Course Evaluation\n# Lesson Plans: Strand 1: Introduction to Design\n# Lesson Plans: Strand 2: Fabrication Techniques\n# Lesson Plans: Strand 3: Introduction to Shop Practices\n# Lesson Plans: Strand 4: Graphical Communications\n# Lesson Plans: Strand 5: Introduction to CAD/CAM\n# Lesson Plans: Strand 6: The Design Project","[{\"question\":\"What is the overall instructional approach in Design and Fabrication 1202?\",\"answer\":\"The course uses problem-based learning and emphasizes learning by doing through individual and group projects that move students from design concepts to fabricated prototypes.\"},{\"question\":\"How are design and fabrication treated within the course?\",\"answer\":\"Design and fabrication are presented as mutually dependent and interrelated activities that require a team approach and rely on collaboration between designers and fabricators.\"},{\"question\":\"What support does the Teacher Resource Guide provide to teachers?\",\"answer\":\"The guide offers practical, detailed lesson plans for each strand, including required resources, teacher preparation, suggested student activities, assessment and evaluation, and additional suggested resources at the end of each lesson.\"}]","Design and Fabrication 1202 - Teacher Resource Guide | PDF",537]
