Conclusion  \nFor several years, DESC has been looking for sites outsides of Seattle in order to build our first permanent supportive housing apartment building outside of Seattle. We know that homelessness is not just a “Seattle problem”. It is county-and state-wide issue that has grown significantly over the last decade. DESC is a nonprofit committed to health and housing for people experiencing homelessness in King County. We currently have fourteen buildings across Seattle providing permanent supportive housing to individuals with long histories of homelessness. We have long been interested in expanding our effective, award-winning permanent supportive housing model to those experiencing homelessness outside of Seattle. In August 2020, DESC entered into a purchase and sale agreement with the seller of the Burien Professional Center at 801 SW 150th St, Burien, WA 98166 and intends to build a 95-unit affordable housing development on the site.  \nIn November of 2020, DESC submitted our application for the Affordable Housing Demonstration Program (AHDP) . We are excited to introduce our housing model to a city committed to housing affordability. A step of the design review and ADHP application processes includes notifying our neighbors of our plans for the site. We have gone about this in a number of different ways which include: reaching out to neighborhood organizations by email, mailing a letter and flyer to properties within 1000 feet of the proposed site, creating a website dedicated to DESC Burien news and information, and holding a Virtual Public Meeting via Zoom for real-time information-sharing between DESC staff and community members.  \nThe intent of this report is to record the efforts made to contact community members and to memorialize the comments, feedback, and questions we have received to date.
