The Federation will consider additional guidance in the future for alternative methods. \nIt is considered that the guidance should be of benefit to all parties involved in this type of activity, especially for clients and contractors. \nThe principals and procedures in the guidance notes are based on the practices recommended by the Demolition Code of Practice [BS6187] and Guidance Notes prepared by the Health and Safety Executive. The NFDC is grateful for the assistance and advice given by the Health and Safety Executive in the preparation of this guidance. \nThe guidance is advisory and is based upon previous guidance and practical experience of several of the Federation’s corporate members. \nIt is to be remembered that Clients, CDM Principal Contractors and Contractors, must be flexible in their approach in the light of all the circumstances, including the many variations that can be encountered \nas a result of the design, construction and materials used in multi-storey buildings. The guidance is not prescriptive and discretion in the application of the Demolition Code of Practice remains with those concerned with each specific project. Accordingly, the National Federation of Demolition Contractors accept no liability whatsoever for any loss, injury or damage howsoever caused to any property or person as a result of the deconstruction of any structure, nor for any errors or omissions that the guidance may contain. \nDetails of NFDC publications [are available at](are available at www.demolition-nfdc.com)[ www.demolition-nfdc.com](are available at www.demolition-nfdc.com) \nor via: \nNational Federation of Demolition Contractors \nTel: 01442 217144 \nEmail: [info@demolition-nfdc.com](info@demolition-nfdc.com) \nCONTENTS \nSection 1 – General \n1.1 Scope of Guidance \n1.2 Objectives of Guidance \n1.3 Responsibilities \n1.4 Health and Safety Legislation \nSection 2 – Project Planning \n2.1 Pre-Tender Planning \n2.1.1 Contractor Pre-qualification and Competence \n2.1.2 Details of Structure to be Demolished \n2.1.3 Construction Errors \n2.1.4 Details of Existing Services and Utilities \n2.1.5 Details of Previous Uses of the Buildings and Site \n2.1.6 Details of Asbestos and other Hazardous Materials \n2.1.7 Details of Site Environment \n2.2 Post Contract Award \n2.2.1 Construction Health and Safety Plan \n2.2.2 Notification of the Project \n2.2.3 Method Statements \n2.2.4 Training \n2.2.5 Structural Survey & Stability Monitoring \n2.2.6 Temporary Propping and Shoring \n2.2.7 Environmental Considerations \n2.2.8 Asbestos and other Hazardous Materials \n2.2.9 Services and Utilities \n2.2.10 Scaffolding and Protection \n2.2.11 Selection and Use of Cranes \n2.","cbCaic4urSs6DpMi","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaic4urSs6DpMi","pdf",2282689,44,"English","# Section 1 – General\n## 1.1 Scope of Guidance\n## 1.2 Objectives of Guidance\n## 1.3 Responsibilities\n## 1.4 Health and Safety Legislation\n# Section 2 – Project Planning\n## 2.1 Pre-Tender Planning\n## 2.2 Post Contract Award\n# Section 3 – Deconstruction Process\n## 3.1 Large Panel System\n## 3.2 Framed System\n## 3.3 Demolition of Lower Storeys\n## 3.4 Plant and Equipment\n## 3.5 Top Down Way®\n## 3.6 Potential Hazards\n# Section 4 – Legislation\n## 4.1 Acts of Parliament\n## 4.2 Regulations\n## 4.3 British and European Standards\n# Appendix 1\n## Construction Phase Health and Safety Plan Check List","[{\"question\":\"What is the purpose of these guidance notes?\",\"answer\":\"They provide advisory principles and procedures for deconstruction using top-down demolition methods, intended to benefit clients and contractors involved in this type of activity.\"},{\"question\":\"Which standards and authorities underpin the guidance?\",\"answer\":\"The principals and procedures are based on practices recommended by the Demolition Code of Practice BS6187 and guidance notes prepared by the Health and Safety Executive.\"},{\"question\":\"Is the guidance prescriptive for specific projects?\",\"answer\":\"No. The guidance is advisory and not prescriptive; discretion in applying the Demolition Code of Practice remains with those concerned for each specific project.\"}]","DECONSTRUCTION OF STRUCTURES FROM THE TOP DOWN - DRG102 - Guidance Notes | PDF",111]
