Sufficient breaking strength. \n2. Minimum elongation(stretch). \n3. High resistance to abrasion. \n4. High coefficient of friction. \n5: Ability to withstand flexing. \nThe breaking strength should not be less than20 pounds in a straight pull test and not less than 12 to15 pounds when knotted. This allows tying and install-ing without danger of breaking.A higher tensilestrength is of little advantage,as the normal operatingtension on the cord,if properly installed,is seldomgreater than one pound. \nA good dial drive cord should have a minimumelongation or stretch.Standard specifications of lead-ing receiver manufacturers permit less than 1/4 perfoot elongation in 48 hours with an applied pull of 5pounds.Substitute materials such as fish line oftenused in repair work will not meet this or some of theother requirements. \nA dial cord is subject to friction whenever theset is tuned and must therefore possess reasonable re-sistance to abrasion.Nylon outer braiding performs \nexcellently in this respect and many cords are nowmade using this material. \nA very important property for a dial drive cordis that it have a relatively high coefficient of friction. This requires that the cord should not become smoothor slick during use.The type of thread used for theouter braid, the diameter of the individual strands andthe method of braiding, determine its performance andlife in this respect. \nSmall diameter drive shafts and pulleys subjectthe cordto continual flexing ","cbCaibCQcQGAIdPI","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaibCQcQGAIdPI","pdf",2224638,96,"English","# PREFACE\n## PROPERTIES OF DIAL DRIVE CORD\n## GENERAL NOTES ON RE-STRINGING DIAL DRIVE SYSTEMS","[{\"question\":\"Why is a diagram necessary for restringing a dialcord?\",\"answer\":\"Restringing is tedious and difficult on complex arrangements; a diagram shows how the cord connects between shafts and pulleys, including the correct turns to avoid binds or slippage.\"},{\"question\":\"What mechanical properties should a replacement dial drive cord have?\",\"answer\":\"It should provide sufficient breaking strength, minimum elongation (stretch), high abrasion resistance, a relatively high coefficient of friction, and the ability to withstand flexing.\"},{\"question\":\"What guidance is given for checking drive cord systems before restringing?\",\"answer\":\"Study the diagram and receiver to determine rotation direction and pointer travel, then check pulleys, drive shafts, tuning mechanisms, and indicators to ensure they move freely and do not bind, lubricating sparingly.\"}]","DC-3 - Dialcord Stringing Guide - Properties of Dial Drive Cord | PDF",1791808920,242]
