The game involves two players competing to create an unbroken path of counters across a hexagonal grid by correctly identifying multiplication facts associated with the numbers on the board. Players must strategically balance creating their own path while blocking their opponent. The game board includes special features such as green lily pads, which can be utilized by any player, and red snake hexagons, which act as dangerous obstacles that cannot be occupied. The aim of the game is to complete an unbroken path of counters or ‘lily pads’ from one side of the river to the other by recalling your 7 times table. Age range: 3rd Grade+ \nNumber of players: 2 \nLearning: 7 times table You will need \n- Each player will need 25 counters of their own color. \nInstructions \n• The first player to start places chooses any of the hexagons on the grid with a number on it. They say the 7 times table fact which the number is equal to. E.g. if the number is \n42, they say ‘7 times 6 equals 42’ or ‘6 times 7 equals 42’. \n• If the fact is correct, they place a counter on the number. If they are wrong, they do not get to place a counter. \n• The second player now chooses any of the uncovered hexagons with a number on it. They say the 7 times table fact which their number is equal to. \n• Players can choose to either create their own path or block the path of their opponent. \n• Play continues until a player manages to complete an unbroken line of counters across the river from the left side of the board (Start) to the right side of the board (Finish) . The first player to do this is the winner. \n• If no player manages to make a path across the pond then the game is drawn. \n• The green hexagons on the board are existing lily pads on the river which any player can use to make their paths. The red snake hexagons are danger hexagons which cannot be used in any paths. You cannot place a counter on the green or red hexagons. \nExamples of Winning Paths \nThe thick red lines show examples of 2 winning paths from one side of the pond to the other.","cbCaiiHIDphRbVXV","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaiiHIDphRbVXV","pdf",653065,"English","# Game Overview\n## Rules and Instructions\n## Game Components and Setup\n## Winning Conditions","[{\"question\":\"What is the main goal of the Cross the River game?\",\"answer\":\"The goal is for a player to complete an unbroken line of counters from the left side of the river board to the right side by correctly identifying 7 times table multiplication facts.\"},{\"question\":\"What do the green and red hexagons on the board represent?\",\"answer\":\"The green hexagons are existing lily pads that any player can use for their path, while the red snake hexagons are dangerous spaces that cannot be used or covered with a counter.\"},{\"question\":\"How do players verify their move?\",\"answer\":\"When a player chooses a hexagon, they must state the correct multiplication fact for that number (e.g., '7 times 6 equals 42').
