This two-player activity requires players to form an unbroken path across a hexagonal grid by correctly identifying products corresponding to 6 times table equations. The game encourages strategic thinking as players can choose to extend their own path or obstruct their opponent. It features special board elements including 'lily pads' for shared use and 'danger' zones that are impassable, offering a balanced learning experience that combines mathematical practice with competitive gaming mechanics to reinforce essential arithmetic skills.",{"@graph":69,"@context":122},[70,84,105],{"@type":71,"itemListElement":72},"BreadcrumbList",[73,77,79,82],{"item":74,"name":75,"@type":76,"position":8},"https://docshare.wps.com","Home","ListItem",{"item":78,"name":9,"@type":76,"position":14},"https://docshare.wps.com/document/",{"item":80,"name":20,"@type":76,"position":81},"https://docshare.wps.com/document/exam/",3,{"item":83,"name":65,"@type":76,"position":19},"https://docshare.wps.com/document/cross-the-river-6-times-table/634133/",{"url":83,"name":65,"@type":85,"image":86,"author":91,"headline":65,"publisher":94,"fileFormat":97,"inLanguage":63,"description":67,"dateModified":98,"datePublished":99,"encodingFormat":97,"isAccessibleForFree":100,"interactionStatistic":101},"DigitalDocument",{"url":87,"@type":88,"width":89,"height":90},"https://docshare.wps.com/thumbnails/cross-the-river-6-times-table/634133.png","ImageObject",300,407,{"name":92,"@type":93},"WPS_1786070896","Person",{"url":74,"name":95,"@type":96},"DocShare","Organization","application/pdf","2026-11-03","2026-10-22",true,{"@type":102,"interactionType":103,"userInteractionCount":34},"InteractionCounter",{"@type":104},"ViewAction",{"@type":106,"mainEntity":107},"FAQPage",[108,114,118],{"name":109,"@type":110,"acceptedAnswer":111},"What is the primary objective of the Cross the River game?","Question",{"text":112,"@type":113},"The goal is to be the first player to complete an unbroken path of counters across the board from the Start to the Finish by successfully identifying 6 times table multiplication facts.","Answer",{"name":115,"@type":110,"acceptedAnswer":116},"How do players claim a hexagonal space on the board?",{"text":117,"@type":113},"A player must choose an uncovered hexagon with a number on it and correctly state the corresponding 6 times table multiplication fact, such as '6 times 7 equals 42'.",{"name":119,"@type":110,"acceptedAnswer":120},"What are the functions of the green and red hexagons on the board?",{"text":121,"@type":113},"Green hexagons represent existing lily pads that any player can use as part of their path, while red snake hexagons are danger zones that cannot be used and cannot be covered with a counter.","https://schema.org",{"og:url":83,"og:type":124,"og:title":65,"og:site_name":95,"og:description":67},"article",{"robots":126,"canonical":83},"index,follow",{"doc_id":128,"site_id":62},634133,1792856947,{"code":4,"msg":5,"data":131},{"doc_id":128,"user_id":132,"nickname":92,"user_avatar":133,"doc_module":4,"category_id":19,"category_name":20,"doc_title":65,"doc_description":67,"doc_content":134,"file_id":135,"file_url":136,"file_type":137,"file_size":138,"view_count":34,"is_deleted":4,"is_public":8,"is_downloadable":8,"audit_status":8,"page_count":14,"language":139,"language_code":63,"site_id":62,"html_lang":63,"table_of_contents":140,"faqs":141,"seo_title":142,"seo_description":67,"update_tm":143,"read_time":24},549768072016,"https://ap-avatar.wpscdn.com/davatar_155a257f0dc6eb9ab79c44ca47cae57d","Cross the River is a times table game which helps children to practice and become more fluent with their multiplication facts. The aim of the game is to complete an unbroken path of counters or ‘lily pads’ from one side of the river to the other by recalling your 6 times table. Age range: 3rd Grade+ \nNumber of players: 2 \nLearning: 6 times table You will need \n- Each player will need 25 counters of their own color. \nInstructions \n• The first player to start places chooses any of the hexagons on the grid with a number on it. They say the 6 times table fact which the number is equal to. E.g. if the number is \n42, they say ‘6 times 7 equals 42’ or ‘7 times 6 equals 42’. \n• If the fact is correct, they place a counter on the number. If they are wrong, they do not get to place a counter. \n• The second player now chooses any of the uncovered hexagons with a number on it. They say the 6 times table fact which their number is equal to. \n• Players can choose to either create their own path or block the path of their opponent. \n• Play continues until a player manages to complete an unbroken line of counters across the river from the left side of the board (Start) to the right side of the board (Finish) . The first player to do this is the winner. \n• If no player manages to make a path across the pond then the game is drawn. \n• The green hexagons on the board are existing lily pads on the river which any player can use to make their paths. The red snake hexagons are danger hexagons which cannot be used in any paths. You cannot place a counter on the green or red hexagons. \nExamples of Winning Paths \nThe thick red lines show examples of 2 winning paths from one side of the pond to the other.","cbCaibi4RVjn9A1n","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaibi4RVjn9A1n","pdf",657193,"English","# Game Overview\n## Objectives and Requirements\n# Instructions\n## Gameplay Rules\n## Winning and Board Features","[{\"question\":\"What is the primary objective of the Cross the River game?\",\"answer\":\"The goal is to be the first player to complete an unbroken path of counters across the board from the Start to the Finish by successfully identifying 6 times table multiplication facts.\"},{\"question\":\"How do players claim a hexagonal space on the board?\",\"answer\":\"A player must choose an uncovered hexagon with a number on it and correctly state the corresponding 6 times table multiplication fact, such as '6 times 7 equals 42'.\"},{\"question\":\"What are the functions of the green and red hexagons on the board?\",\"answer\":\"Green hexagons represent existing lily pads that any player can use as part of their path, while red snake hexagons are danger zones that cannot be used and cannot be covered with a counter.\"}]","Cross the River - 6 Times Table | PDF",1792673325]
