The objective is for two players to compete in building an unbroken path of counters across a river grid by accurately reciting 1 times table facts. The game features strategic elements where players can create their own routes or block their opponents. It includes specific rules regarding 'lily pad' hexagons as free spaces and 'snake' hexagons as danger zones. By reinforcing multiplication fluency through active gameplay, this activity provides a structured and enjoyable way for children to practice fundamental math skills while developing strategic thinking and concentration.",{"@graph":69,"@context":122},[70,84,105],{"@type":71,"itemListElement":72},"BreadcrumbList",[73,77,79,82],{"item":74,"name":75,"@type":76,"position":8},"https://docshare.wps.com","Home","ListItem",{"item":78,"name":9,"@type":76,"position":14},"https://docshare.wps.com/document/",{"item":80,"name":20,"@type":76,"position":81},"https://docshare.wps.com/document/exam/",3,{"item":83,"name":65,"@type":76,"position":19},"https://docshare.wps.com/document/cross-the-river-1-times-table-game-instructions/631823/",{"url":83,"name":65,"@type":85,"image":86,"author":91,"headline":65,"publisher":94,"fileFormat":97,"inLanguage":63,"description":67,"dateModified":98,"datePublished":99,"encodingFormat":97,"isAccessibleForFree":100,"interactionStatistic":101},"DigitalDocument",{"url":87,"@type":88,"width":89,"height":90},"https://docshare.wps.com/thumbnails/cross-the-river-1-times-table-game-instructions/631823.png","ImageObject",300,407,{"name":92,"@type":93},"Eliana","Person",{"url":74,"name":95,"@type":96},"DocShare","Organization","application/pdf","2026-11-03","2026-10-22",true,{"@type":102,"interactionType":103,"userInteractionCount":24},"InteractionCounter",{"@type":104},"ViewAction",{"@type":106,"mainEntity":107},"FAQPage",[108,114,118],{"name":109,"@type":110,"acceptedAnswer":111},"How do players win the Cross the River game?","Question",{"text":112,"@type":113},"The winner is the first player to successfully complete an unbroken line of counters across the board, moving from the Start on the left to the Finish on the right.","Answer",{"name":115,"@type":110,"acceptedAnswer":116},"What is the role of the green and red hexagons on the board?",{"text":117,"@type":113},"Green hexagons represent existing lily pads that any player can use for their path, while red snake hexagons are danger zones that cannot be used and cannot have counters placed on them.",{"name":119,"@type":110,"acceptedAnswer":120},"What happens if a player gives an incorrect multiplication fact?",{"text":121,"@type":113},"If a player incorrectly states the 1 times table fact for the number on the chosen hexagon, they are not allowed to place a counter on that space for the turn.","https://schema.org",{"og:url":83,"og:type":124,"og:title":65,"og:site_name":95,"og:description":67},"article",{"robots":126,"canonical":83},"index,follow",{"doc_id":128,"site_id":62},631823,1792796079,{"code":4,"msg":5,"data":131},{"doc_id":128,"user_id":132,"nickname":92,"user_avatar":133,"doc_module":4,"category_id":19,"category_name":20,"doc_title":65,"doc_description":67,"doc_content":134,"file_id":135,"file_url":136,"file_type":137,"file_size":138,"view_count":24,"is_deleted":4,"is_public":8,"is_downloadable":8,"audit_status":8,"page_count":14,"language":139,"language_code":63,"site_id":62,"html_lang":63,"table_of_contents":140,"faqs":141,"seo_title":142,"seo_description":67,"update_tm":143,"read_time":24},4398048949847,"https://ap-avatar.wpscdn.com/avatar/400002536579ef2da7f?_k=1778318612642679267","Cross the River - 1 Times Table \nCross the River is a times table game which helps children to practice and become more fluent with their multiplication facts. The aim of the game is to complete an unbroken path of counters or ‘lily pads’ from one side of the river to the other by recalling your 1 times table. Age range: 2nd Grade+ \nNumber of players: 2 \nLearning: 1 times table You will need \n- Each player will need 25 counters of their own color. \nInstructions \n• The first player to start places chooses any of the hexagons on the grid with a number on it. They say the 1 times table fact which the number is equal to. E.g. if the number is \n7, they say ‘ 1 times 7 equals 7’ or ‘7 times 1 equals 7’. \n• If the fact is correct, they place a counter on the number. If they are wrong, they do not get to place a counter. \n• The second player now chooses any of the uncovered hexagons with a number on it. They say the 1 times table fact which their number is equal to. \n• Players can choose to either create their own path or block the path of their opponent. \n• Play continues until a player manages to complete an unbroken line of counters across the river from the left side of the board (Start) to the right side of the board (Finish) . The first player to do this is the winner. \n• If no player manages to make a path across the pond then the game is drawn. \n• The green hexagons on the board are existing lily pads on the river which any player can use to make their paths. The red snake hexagons are danger hexagons which cannot be used in any paths. You cannot place a counter on the green or red hexagons. \nExamples of Winning Paths \nThe thick red lines show examples of 2 winning paths from one side of the pond to the other.","cbCaigyIwMBJpRLs","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaigyIwMBJpRLs","pdf",485244,"English","# Game Overview\n## Learning Objectives and Requirements\n# Instructions for Play\n## Rules and Strategic Gameplay\n## Winning Conditions\n# Board Features\n## Understanding Hexagons and Danger Zones","[{\"question\":\"How do players win the Cross the River game?\",\"answer\":\"The winner is the first player to successfully complete an unbroken line of counters across the board, moving from the Start on the left to the Finish on the right.\"},{\"question\":\"What is the role of the green and red hexagons on the board?\",\"answer\":\"Green hexagons represent existing lily pads that any player can use for their path, while red snake hexagons are danger zones that cannot be used and cannot have counters placed on them.\"},{\"question\":\"What happens if a player gives an incorrect multiplication fact?\",\"answer\":\"If a player incorrectly states the 1 times table fact for the number on the chosen hexagon, they are not allowed to place a counter on that space for the turn.\"}]","Cross the River - 1 Times Table - Game Instructions | PDF",1792669565]
