It outlines how to start a small cricket farm, including housing temperature, containers, breeding setup, feeding variety, moisture, harvesting, and safe preparation. Cooking options include boiling, frying, and grinding dried crickets for samosas or cookies.","Crickets-the New Cattle? \nlevel: intermediate / advanced \nEnglish Agriculture \nCrickets-the New Cattle? \nWritten and illustrated for MissionAssist \nEnglish Oxfordshire, England \nCopyright © 2021, MissionAssist \n[http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/](http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/) \nYou are free to make commercial use of this work. Crickets may be small, but they are full of protein and many minerals that are important for human nutrition. When cooked and served along with other ingredients such as grainsand vegetables they can help to provide a tasty and wellbalanced meal. \nProducing crickets for the table \nPerhaps you already know some people who are raising crickets for people to eat. What may have started as a hobby is now becoming a good business for people with enough time, space and commitment to raise these nutritious insects. The space required is much less than you would need for traditional meat animals such as cattle or goats. To farm crickets, you require: \n· a small room which you can keep at a constant 30- 35ºC and a thermometer to enable you to check the temperature regularly \n· several large buckets to house the crickets \n· mosquito netting to cover the tops of the buckets \n· empty egg boxes to put inside the buckets: here the crickets will breed and lay their eggs \nYou may be able to buy a supply of crickets from someone whois already raising them, or from a local agricultural college or other supplier. Otherwise you will need to collect them from the wild, but once they start breeding you will soon have a good supply of your own. Each female cricket can lay 5 to 10 eggs a day, and within 6 weeks the new crickets will begin to breed. Once your cricket farm has got off to a good start, you will probably find it convenient to separate the insects at different stages of development into different buckets. That way you can easily harvest just the mature crickets when you want to cook them. \nAs well as keeping your crickets warm and well housed you need to feed ","cbCaisgvvgmnGju0","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaisgvvgmnGju0","pdf",350352,1,13,"English","en",105,"# Producing crickets for the table\n## Starting and managing a cricket farm\n## Feeding and maintaining moisture\n# Harvesting and cooking\n## Boiling and frying\n## Drying and grinding for recipes\n# Key words used in this book","[{\"question\":\"What makes crickets useful as a food source?\",\"answer\":\"Crickets are rich in protein and minerals important for human nutrition.
