For 2027, up to 50 reduced contextual offers may be made to eligible applicants from defined under-represented groups.","How is Contextual Data used in Clinical Admissions?  \nMedicine  \nMedicine applications are processed as outlined in our A100 Departmental Supplement (PDF) .  \nThe process is in four stages , and for non-graduate applicants, offers are made following an assessment of medicine admission test performance (UCAT), academic potential and interview.  \nRoutinely, while all applications are assessed on an individual basis against our published criteria, applicants who meet the criteria for the university’s policy on contextual data for fair access, maybe given additional consideration in relation to any of the stages of the process. As such , each application is reviewed to determine if it is appropriate to accept reduced GCSE, UCAT or interview performance.  \nApplicants who meet the criteria for contextual data and fair access would be expected to offer at least 12 points at GCSE (scoring system as outlined in our Departmental Supplement) . However, English Language and Maths GCSEs would need to meet minimum requirements of grade 6.  \nFlexibility on UCAT and interview performance are determined annually when the scores are available from all applicants. For entry in 2027 , the School of Medicine intends to make up to 50 reduced contextual offers to the most competitive of the applicants who are deemed eligible for a medicine offer, and who also are from the following under-represented groups:  \n• UK Students from socio-economically deprived home postcode areas as defined in Indexof Multiple Deprivation (IMD) Deciles 1 and 2.  \n• UK Care Experienced students (i.e. qualifying students who have spent any amount of time in Local Authority care and meet associated eligibility criteria used nationally) .  \nA reduced offer will be up to 2 grades below the standard University of Liverpool A-level offer.  \nPlease Note: The School of Medicine will apply this form of contextual profiling only to Home students and it will not apply to graduates and mature applicants applying to the programme. Special consideration does not guarantee an interview , offer or reduced offer for the medicine programme.
