PastoralOrganisation24R.A.LAMBOURNE \nBook Reviews32 \nSome concepts seem to serve as rallying points for theorists and practitionersin a variety of disciplines. The word 'care'has been functioning in this wayfor some time, but a relative newcomer on the interdisciplinary scene is thequasi-theological term 'hope'.In our last issue Frank Lake explored its implica-tions in a clinical setting. The series continues with contributions from a churchhistorian and from a social worker.Does anything more link the contributorsto this series than the use of the same four-letter word? The question isperhaps best left for the reader to answer, but one common feature certainlyemerges:the struggle of each writer to conceptualise hope results in thecasting into fresh perspective of several recurrent problems of personal andsocial interaction. \nWe are indebted to the Edinburgh Medical Group for permission to publishpapers from a recent symposium on 'Children in Hospital.Apart from theirvalue in providing information, these papers represent an important kind ofcommunication —that between the medical authorities and their 'customers'.The involvement of parents in the treatment programme of their sick child isclearly essential.Perhaps in other fields of general medicine relatives ofpatients may come to be regarded as more than an inconvenience to thehospital regime. \nThe final article in this issue opens a new debate. What form should ourpastoral organisations take in the future? This is clearly a question of vitalconcern","cbCaicJ2qTUwO2hC","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaicJ2qTUwO2hC","pdf",3582392,36,"English","# CONTACT\n## The Menace of Hope\n## Wrath, Hope and Relationship\n## Children in Hospital\n##
