The purpose is to identify theproblem,and suggest possible avenues of action for furtherconsideration.  \n# Dmensions of the Attack\n\nNo thoughtful person can question that the Americaneconomic systa is under broad attack.*  This varies in scope,intensity,in the techniques employed,and in the level ofvisib1lity.  \nThere always have been some who opposed the Americansy8tem,and preferred socialism or scme fozm of stat2sm  \n★Variously called:the \"free enterprise system\",\"capitalism\",and the \"profit system\".The American political systen ofdemocracy under the rule of law is a1so under attack,often bythe same individuals and organizations who seek to underminethe enterprlse system.  \nDATE:August 23,1971  \n(communi sm or fascism).Also,there always have been criticsof the system,whose criticism has been wholesome and constructiveso long as the objective was to improve rather than to subvertor destroy.  \nBut what now concezns us is quite new in the historyof America.We are not dealing with epdsddic or isolated attacksfrom a relatively few extremists or even from the minority soc1alístcadre.Rather,the assault on the enterprise system is broadlybased and consistent1y pursued.  Itis gaining momentume andconverts,  \n## Sources of the Attack\n\nThe sources are varied and diffused.
