\nLoUISVILLE,KENTUCKY \n946 pCR \n0C ddV \nAnon \nABR26:196AR.26,1946 \nFOREWORD \nThe following pages record the proceedings of the By-ProductRecovery Conference of the Beverage Distilling Industry held atLouisville,Kentucky,on September 26,1945 under the auspicesof the Distilled Spirits Institute and the Kentucky Distillers As-sociation. \nThis conference was called in view of the current shortage ofhigh protein animal feed which is so critical that it threatens torestrict the production of meat, dairy and poultry products andthereby limit their use by the American people and,in fact, thepeople of the entire world. \nThe purpose of the meeting was to bring together officials ofthe United States Department of Agriculture, feed authorities ofagricultural experiment stations of leading colleges and universi-ties,representatives of feed manufacturers, heads of the produc-tion and feed branches of the industry, and other beverage distill-ing company executives to analyze the need of an increased re-covery of this vital feed by the industry,to review what has beendone and what is not being done by the industry to recover suchfeed, and to formulate a plan for continued research and studythat the maximum efficiency in recovery and marketing all possibleby-products from grain used in beverage distiling operations maybe obtained. \nThe proceedings are here reported in the order of the presenta-tion at the conference and immediately following is a table of con-tents for convenient reference.Attention is directed to the luncheonmenu(Page 43)which provided an interesting diversion from thestudy of animal feed recovery to the consumption of a meal wherethe dairy, meat and poultry products served were obtained fromanimals fed on distillers'dried grains and solubles and all other food \nitems were prepared with or made directly from distillers'grain \nby-products. \nOn page 59 are the names of the permanent standing commit- \ntee appointed in accordance with the resolution adopted at the close \nof the meeting to conduct future studies in the recovery of dis- \ntillers'by-products. Concluding the report is a roster of the names \nof those registered at the conference. \nTo all, who by their attendance, discussions and presentations \ncontributed to the success of this—the first By-Product Recovery \nConference of the beverage distilling industry, the industry is \ndeeply grateful. \nINDEX \nPAGE \nCall to Order…………………………………………………………………………………………………7 \nOpen","cbCainj3ggEeNjxq","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCainj3ggEeNjxq","pdf",1965714,37,"English","# FOREWORD\n# INDEX\n## Call to Order\n## Opening Address, Gen.
