Complete Vocal Technique in four pages\n\nSinging is not that dificult and everybody can learn to sing.Ihave divided the singing techniques into four main subjectsas listed below.By combining elements of these four subjectsyou can produce precisely the sounds you want. You will alsobe able to pinpoint your specific problems and mistakes, andyou can focus on which techniques you wish to work on. \nHere Ihave condensed'Complete Vocal Technique'into fourpages. You can return to these pages at any time to give your-self an overview of the contents of this book. \nThe four main subjects are: \n·The three overall principles -to ensure healthy soundproduction. \n·The four vocal modes -to choose the 'gear'you want tosing in. \n·Sound colours-to make the sound lighter or darker. \n·Effects-to achieve specific sound effects. \n## The three overall principles\n\nThe three overallprinciples are the most fundamental andimportant to perfect. They make it possible to reach allthehigh and low notes within the range of the individual singer,to sing long phrases,to have a clear and powerful voice andto avoid hoarseness. \nThe three overall principles must be obeyed regardless ofmode, sound colour, and effect. They are: \n### 1.Support\n\nThis means working against the natural urge of the dia-phragm to release the air that has been inhaled. This isachieved by resisting its movement.During singing, the waistmuscles and solar plexus are pushed outwards whilst the ab-domen around the navel is gradually pulled in in a constantand sustained manner and the back muscles are tightened. \nThe muscles in the loin try to pull the pelvis backwards, whilethe muscles in the abdomen try to pullthe pelvis up underyour body. This battle created between the abdominal mus-cles and the muscles in the loin is a valuable and importantpart of support. However, the support must happen in a sus-tained and continuous manner as though working against aresistance for as long as a sound is being produced.Whenthe muscle contractions stop being sustained and continu-ous,for instance if you cannot pull the abdomen around thenavel inwards any further or push the muscles of the waistor solar plexus outwards any further, then there is usually nomore support. It is important to conserve your support ener- \ngy so you do not waste it or useit at the wrong point in time.Do not use support before it isnecessary.Save it for when thesinging gets difficult, such ason high notes or at the end of aphrase.Support is hard physicalwork so you should be in goodphysical condition. \n### 2.Necessary Twang\n\nThe area above the vocal cords forms a funnel, this is calledthe 'epiglottic funnel. When twanging, the opening of theepiglottic funnel is made smaller by bringing the arytenoidcartilages closer to the lower part of epiglottis (the petiole)As a result the sound gets clearer and non-breathy,and youcan increase your volume. You always need to use neces-sary twang in order to have correct technique and achieveeasy and unhindered use of the voice regardless of the mode, \nsound colour and effect used.Necessary twang makes it easi-er to sing in all waysFor many this necessary twang does notsound twanged at all. \n### 3.Avoid protruding the jaw and tightening the lips\n\nAvoid protruding the jaw and tightening the lips as it oftenproduces uncontrolled constriction around the vocal cords.Achieve a loose jaw by bending your head back and placinga finger between the upper and lower jaw.Keep this positionof the jaw as you sing. The lower jaw should be pulled back-wards relative to the upper jaw.Be sure to open the mouthwideron high and low notes than on notes in the middle partof the voice. \nWhilst avoiding tightening the lips,it is also important toform vowels with the tongue without altering the shape ofthe mouth too much.Consonants on the other hand are usu-ally produced by narrowing the vocal tract and by tension inthe lips, but as you do not stay on them for very long in sing-ing they do not impair singing. It is important t","cbCairXseOBr2muy","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCairXseOBr2muy","pdf",567983,"English","# The three overall
