Braun/Gratton to approve the agenda. Motion carried.  \nChase/Arndt to approve the minutes from the previous meeting. Motion carried.  \nGratton/Braun to approve the minutes from the intervening meetings. Motion carried. Public appearances and citizen comments re: agenda items: None.  \nBraun/Gratton to approve $69,130.87 in checks, $23,341.33 in vouchers, and $81,171.47 in electronic payments. Roll call vote, passed unanimously.  \nCommunications: None from the public.  \nReports of Officials:  \nA. Mayor:  \n1. Mayoral Directive: Contact with City Attorney or Other Legal Service.  \nMayor read it and said itwas self-explanatory. We can’t have everyone contacting the City Attorney whenever. There needs to be some structure.  \n2. Resignation of Sandy Milfred, Deputy Treasurer  \nThe Mayor stated that Sandy has always done a good job for us and wishes her well. Chase/Braun to approve Sandy’s resignation. Motion carried.  \n3. Braun/Arndt to approve Resolution 7-2018 (Approve Mayoral Appointments– Recreation, Plan Commission, Board of Appealsand Covenant Committee. Mayor stated that most were just reappointments. Josh Nichols is the exception and works for Landmark Credit Union. Roll call vote, passed unanimously.  \nB. Clerk/Treasurer:  \nThe city audit has been completed and Baker Tilly will be at next month’s Common Council meeting to present our 2017 financials. We had one person attend the Open Book yesterday, and the Board of Review will be on Tuesday, May 22nd from 6:00 PM to  \n8:00 PM.  \nC. Written Reports:  \n1. Building Permits Report.  \n2. Library Report: Jannette Thrane, Library Director  \n􀁸 The Juneau Public Library’s LED lighting upgrade is complete. Wegener Electric and Plumbing began work on April 10 and completed the work the following week. The JPL staff and Board of Trustees would like to thank Dan and Nate for their hard work and dedication to the project, not to mention the early work hours they put in before the library opened each morning. The lighting color is the same, however, the newnessofthe bulbs and the functionality of the LED bulbs make the lighting in the library even brighter for our patron’s needs.  \n􀁸 The Juneau Public Library is in need of some front entry landscape updating. Quotes and landscaping plans are being collected by the library director from various local landscaping businesses. The Library Board will be making decisions soon on what landscaping company’s design and products will be used. Once the decision has been made, Director Thrane will be looking for volunteers to help plant the new design.  \n􀁸 The Thursday Afternoon Movies that occur two times a month have continued to draw between 15-20 attendees. The next two Thursday Afternoon Movie dates and titles are:  \no May 10: Peter Rabbit  \no May 24: Star Wars: The Last Jedi  \n􀁸 April 8-14 was National Library Week. This was the 60th Anniversary for this event, so the Friends of the Juneau Public Library purchased $300 worth of new release DVDsand books to serve as prizes for every 60th person that walked through the library doors that week. Six winners of various ages were thrilled to pick a prize and the remaining books and DVDs were added to the library’s catalog for all JPL patrons to enjoy.  \n􀁸 Jannette Thrane, library director, and Eileen Gratton, Juneau Library Board of Trustees President, attended the 1st Annual Meeting for Trustees and Boardson Thursday, April 19.
