This document explains our approach to the portfolio of evidence for the June 2022 series. \nIf you are in a country or region which has been moved to a portfolio of evidence approach, you will need to produce a portfolio of evidence for all entries for Cambridge IGCSE ™ , O Level and International AS & A Level. \nIn this document \n\n| Page | |\n| --- | --- |\n| Selecting the portfolio of evidence | 2 |\n| • Quantity of evidence | 2 |\n| • When to collect the evidence | 3 |\n| • Types of evidence | 3 |\n| • Coverage of syllabus content and assessment objectives | 5 |\n| • Timing of work | 6 |\n| • Security and authentication | 6 |\n| • Selecting the pieces of evidence for each candidate | 7 |\n| • Informing the candidate of the pieces of evidence chosen | 7 |\n| • Evidence will be equally weighted | 8 |\n| • Concerns about the choice of evidence | 8 |\n| • The Rationale Document | 8 |\n| • Special consideration | 8 |\n| • Collecting evidence: general advice | 8 |\n| • Collecting evidence: syllabus-specific advice | 9 |\n| • Advice for candidates who are preparing for a portfolio of evidence who have had a school-assessed grade in a previous series | 9 |\n| • Private candidates | 9 |\n| • Cambridge International A Level candidates | 9 |\n| • Syllabuses with endorsed components | 11 |\n| | |\n| Appendices | 12 |\n| • Appendix A – Collecting evidence: general advice | 12 |\n| • Appendix B – Collecting evidence: syllabus-specific advice | 16 |\n| • Appendix C – Collecting evidence: syllabus-specific advice for AS & A Level Mathematics and Further Mathematics | 23 |\n\nIntroduction \nThe portfolio of evidence is a contingency approach for June 2022 for situations where directives from national or local authorities mean exams cannot take place. We will decide whether it is possible to move centres to the portfolio of evidence route, taking into account the evidence available from national and local authorities. \nIn summary: \n• centres select a portfolio of evidence for each candidate in each syllabus, made up of three substantial pieces of evidence completed at any time during the course of study \n• centres will not be required to mark or grade the portfolio of evidence \n• centres submit the portfolio digitally to us through our online Submit for Assessment portal \n• Cambridge examiners mark the work submitted by the centre \n• we use our examiners’ marks to calculate a final grade for each candidate for each syllabus they are entered for. \nWe recommend that all centres prepare a portfolio of evidence for each candidate, in electronic form, and that this is ready by the start of the exam series. This means that if exams are cancelled at short notice, centres will not need to do any additional work to prepare a portfolio. \nSelecting the portfolio of evidence \nQuantity of evidence \nCentres following a portfolio of evidence approach should identify a portfolio of three substantial pieces of work for each candidate in each portfolio of evidence. \nFor candidates taking most qualifications, there will be one portfolio of evidence, and therefore a total of three substantial pieces of work will be required. \nFor candidates taking a linear route to an A Level grade, there will be two portfolios of evidence – one for the AS part of the qualification and one for the A2 part of the qualification. For these candidates, therefore, six substantial pieces of work will be required in total: three for the AS part of the qualification, and three for the A2 part of the qualification. \nBy ‘substantial’, we mean a piece of work that has taken the candidate at least one hour of concentrated work to complete.
